and the race officials screwed up and threw the white flag when it was supposed to be the checkered and ran a extra lap.
Spoiler:
which is why Gilliland is being declared as the winner

if I was Davis/Hillman and Bassett, I would be raising hell at the tower, Davis especially because they got a torn up race car.

and nobody knows where they finished for the most part from posts on Twitter.

If I was the flagman or the lead scorer I would be hiding for a while

You know NASCAR is a lost cause when they can't even run their own touring series without some comical bullshit occurring.

Dont get me wrong, i LOVED racing in @nascar but they need to try to make it less obvious with there Daytona qualifying "amazing" results. Danika first pole on her first year, the return of the #3 was on pole, and now the Chase replacing Jeff Gordon after over 20 years gets the pole on his first time out. Those are just the last 3-4 years... I wonder why only at Daytona the rules didn't change for qualifying

It certainly seems like a conspiracy when the big story of the pre-season ends up on the pole the past few seasons but when you look at the teams they were driving for, it doesn't seem as far-fetched.
2016: Hendrick
2015: Hendrick
2014: RCR
2013: Stewart-Haas

Plus Hendrick (I think it was Gordon too) won 3 poles on the plate tracks last year too I believe

I think they have been pretty damn lucky overall for the feel good story, but wouldn't be shocked in the same breath.

Yeah I don't think this is a conspiracy. I mean the general media has no idea who the fuck Chase Elliott is. NASCAR would have more attention if Jr or Danica won it.

This is why single car qualifying is a worthless spectacle to watch

You're literally watching cars circulate for an hour with the result already decided in advance.

Bring back group qualy, at least then there's something worth watching even if its a stupid wreck.
