It's been literally 20 years since the split. It is time to move on.

Well, looks, politics and all these things aside, this is just one of IndyCar problems right now. As long as that era is the benchmark, the series today will always suck.

Sorry for straying away from the discussion about how a goddamn snow-plow is uglier than a slick racecar, but I don't know where else to ask this:

How do drivers find the limit on an oval? I am obviously more familiar with road courses, where you can just turn faster until you start losing it a bit, you brake later until you miss the apex, even on the fastest corners you can get away by going a bit wide or when the car starts to move around a bit.

But on an oval you don't seem to be able to go that far, as any slight mistake causes a brutal unrecoverable slide (at least in major OW racing) and usually ends in a written-off race car. Any more insight on how drivers know they can't get any faster? Some members here may have raced in oval-based series.

I guess drivers develop how to feel the car behaviour, and if the car is too unstable, they keep working until the behaviour allow them to run in only one line in the track instead of using the whole racetrack like in usual road courses

is just like Mario Andretti said once, "if everything is under control, you're not fast enough"

To be fair, that's like saying syphilis is marginally better than gonorrhea.

Numbers 2 and 3 are not things he "did", liked asked by Philthy.

Now you're just splitting hairs, he applied for the race license and was granted it (contuary to popular belief they don't come in christmas crackers) and his sperm was the quickest one to swim up mummy's..... oh no we're not going there, no just no....

Somebody talk about epic paint jobs, before I hurl...

I didn't see the race but looking it up all that's written is that the car had a technical failure before the start. What did Chilton do wrong?

That was the "official" reason given but i believe there was a lot of speculation that he was a bit too scared to run the race, or that he wasnt comfortable on the track, or just couldnt get up to speed. Something along those lines. I'm sure if someone dug through last years indy thread we could find what was talked about.

100,000,000 sperm and Max was the quickest? Oh the irony...

I'm so glad the classic Target scheme is back!

Dixon wins best scheme of the year.

The only ways to prevent that are if someone lands a deal with valvonine or Forsythe does a indy one off and brings a players car.
