It's sort of still around, UNOH moved the sponsorship to Myrtle Beach for their big 400 lap Late Model race.

I kinda of liked the Battle at the Beach though at Daytona because it would give more live airtime to the K&N and Modified drivers and it would be something different. The 2nd year wasn't as bad with the shorten straightaways, but it sucked for other pavement tracks like New Smyrna as they would have to cut the Late Models and Modifieds for at least 2 nights.

I don't understand why people hate on the Battle at the Beach so much. It didn't affect the points in '13, it didn't take anything away from the schedule in '14, it was shed as fuck, and it was bonus racing

It's almost like saying "At least they don't give away free samples at Wal-Mart anymore"

I'm not sure, but I think one reason was that they used the shitty improvised track on the backstretch when it could have take place at at track like Myrtle Beach.

not only that but it sort of replaced the void when they stopped having other support races like IROC and Goodys Dash during Speedweeks. At least all of the short track racing at the other Florida tracks like New Smyrna, Volusia, East Bay and Ocala are all streamed now.

I guess it was easier for NASCAR and the TV crews to do I guess while adding to Speedweeks. I always thought they should have done it at New Smyrna as apart of the World Series as the Mods & Super Late Models already run there all week. That has basically happened minus the Modifieds being full NASCAR Tour rules/sanctioning.

I personally did not mind the track layout at all. Reminded me of the track inside the baseball field at Soldier Field, Chicago from way back in the day.

It reminded me alot of the Charlotte Legends Oval for me. While that track was based on Bowman Gray Stadium, the track has longer straightaways and tighter corners. And it also had the banking transition on the superspeedway portion of the track.

As much as I thought BotB was a joke, it was better than the big track for sure

I don't know why they couldn't have just moved it to a make shift oval between T4 and the trioval or the trioval and T1?

Really, they could just run the oval at this point. Pop on some roof flaps and you're good to go.

Because of the age restriction on ovals over a mile, only like 5 cars would start the race

At least if you're gonna do it, sign with a team that has a chance of running in the top 20.
