I don't think Perez will stay in F1 honestly.

Am I the only one who thinks this season is going on for too long? Seems like these last two races, even though the tracks are good, are just a little bit of show while all the focus is on next year.

It's probably because until about 2007, the season used to end in mid-October. I don't think it helps that the championship has been a done deal since early September.

F1 needs at least 1 Mexican due to the upcoming Mexican GP, and there's another expendable Mexican whose performance in Pérez's old team has been underwhelming... I think Gutierrez is at a bigger risk of being left without a seat than Pérez tbh - wouldn't be surprised at all to see Pérez going back to his former team.

For 2014 because they couldn't get in time. Is it completely off for 2015?

I would like to underline that only Autosport ran the Magnussen story. Although I only believe news when I see it on Autosport, it must be highlighted that they have got it wrong before.

Notice the fact that the report is no headline anymore, not even a 'smaller' headline.

And then there is this report from this morning as featured on GPUpdate

Quote:
Pérez ready for 'most important' race

On the back of fresh speculation over his McLaren future, Sergio Pérez has described the United States Grand Prix as the "most important weekend" of his 2013 season.

The Mexican, who is at risk of losing his seat with the team after just one campaign onboard, has adopted the upcoming Austin weekend as his home event, and is hopeful of delivering a display similar to the one that saw him finish fifth in India.

"This will be the most important weekend of my year," said Pérez, who has recorded 25 points less than team-mate Jenson Button so far this season. "I'll be especially keen for a strong result to send my fans back home with a smile on their faces.

"I think we've shown some solid improvement and greater understanding of our car over the past few races, yet, frustratingly, Jenson and I have had few opportunities to really demonstrate what the car is capable of. I'd love another chance of a race like India, where I was able to push throughout and get some strong points for the team."

Button is also hopeful of a competitive showing at the Circuit of The Americas, the Briton tipping the MP4-28 chassis to cope well with the demands of the venue.

"I'm optimistic that the track will suit the high-speed characteristics of our car, which showed improved pace in both India and Abu Dhabi," said Button. "After a couple of difficult races, it'd be great to get a strong finish for all the Formula 1 fans in the US."

Hulkenberg to Lotus is pretty much completely off and he will probably sign with Force India.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

DiResta is history in F1, then.

Hulk and Sutil at FI
Sirotkin, Gutierrez, Perez being the candidates at Sauber
Grosjean and Maldonado at Lotus

and that's it regarding the meaningful teams

I've been somewhat off the grid for the last few days and only know about Magnussen and Perez. So can someone help me understand why Hulk is suddenly being put in at FI and not at Lotus? What have I missed?

RtN also says the same but all I've read is what you've mentioned Scotty

There's nothing concrete (which is why it's in this thread and not the F1 Discussion thread), but Hulk supposedly sought assurances for 2014 before taking Kimi's seat at Austin. He didn't get those assurances, which means the deal is quite probably off.

Force India still has an offer for Hulk, as does Sauber. The problem with Sauber is that they are in a similar hole to Lotus, the only difference being that Sauber have acted in good faith. Hulk had not been paid any salary before this week, when Ferrari paid Sauber to pay him to help stop him driving for Lotus in Austin.

He isn't. Last reports are Hulk was still first in line for Lotus seat. Don't know where Artur got evidence to the contrary.

I based that on RtN's post because, as with kals, I'm quite off the grid too with such crazy silly season with thousand of rumours and speculations coming up all the time.

Add to RtN's post, I heard Quantum deal might be at risk, so that would imply in Lotus being more interested in Maldonado rather than Hulk

El Nacional is quoting PDVSA's president, who has said that Maldonado is off to Lotus.
