Grand-Am rocks. Not watched an ALMS race in years.

Grand-Am is fine, but ALMS has provided much better racing.

However, it’s believed both the current Daytona Prototype and Rolex Series GT categories will be included, along with the highly competitive ALMS GT class. P2 could also feature, although possibly equalized with a potentially faster DP class.

Have these classes been run to the same regulations? Will they be run to the same set of regulations?

Not the same regulations. Grand-Am GT cars are mostly space frame style chassis. They're around GT3 speeds, but they are relatively heavily restricted to keep them away from the DPs.

Don Panoz was pretty honest in saying he wasn't a fan of WEC and P1s, so I don't see them appearing.

To give you an idea, GTC cars can be run in Rolex GT.

I wonder if they'll run in conjunction with Indycar at places like Long Beach, Mid-Ohio and Baltimore or whether the NASCAR owners will bin it

Street races are probably done with. Mid Ohio has a Grand Am date already.

Mergers....they never get it right...

So, now NASCAR has a controlling interest in Stock Cars, Motorbikes and Sports cars...

What's next....

Well this isn't good news.

I was never a fan of the ALMS races at Long Beach, Houston, Washington DC, etc. so at least there is that.

How much was ALMS bringing to the street races? Can Indycar sustain them on its own?

I think ALMS (and Indycar) has too many street course, but I wouldn't mind them retaining a couple to give a bit of variety. Long Beach is normally a shit race but it's high profile, would they not be keen to retain that?

I guess that's in here because it was tweeted by McNish, but I can't work out what track that is, lol. It's not VIR (ALMS) or Interlagos (WEC). Zolder last weekend? Spa?
