I don't know if this crash will get drivers to become conscious of their fragility, or on the other hand keep feeling invincible and acting like dumbasses on a straight line at the start

yeah yeah, I hope they stop thinking that massive runoff and track safety is a jail free card to drive recklessly

Sadly a lot of drivers in F1 and those coming up through junior categories drive like morons because they feel nothing can happen to them.

The way Dr Roberts wandered over slowly to begin with makes me think he thought he was a gonner. He only reacted when he saw movement

Obviously concrete is a better option than what just happened, but it's still far from ideal. Let's just hope no one else goes off there today

So red flag on lap 1 means a new race right?

You know what...I'm fucking MAD at Grosjean after seeing his replays. He just didn't have ANY awareness AT ALL!! Instead of you know...taking your foot off the gas instead of hitting someone he just swerved WILDLY across the road where he knew that there would have been a car. Look at the angle of his steering wheel.

Instead now we are all going to say Oh My God what a miracle the cars are so safe. How lucky was he. Instead of saying hey Roman have a stint on the side lines for DANGEROUS and IRRIOSPONSIBLE driving!!!

He should be banned for his actions.

Bit Harsh

The cars ahead had to lift and avoid Stroll who was coming back on the track from the runoff.
Romain was far back enough that he just saw the cars slowing down and swerved to avoid, but had the Alpha Tauri on his inside to turn over the nose of.

Crazy, but a chain reaction deal.

Yes, it is harsh...but justified in my opinion. But really glad that he has escaped relatively unscathed.

Well, others would have been just long SC period in Whiting era. This one was close to race cancellation, which would be unprecedented.

Got a split second to react in such a case. Slam on the brakes and hope you don't get rear-ended or swerve to miss and hope there isn't a car beside you.

Well, he was dead last so there was no chance of being rear ended.....but I get your point ;)

Worst case scenario is you hit the armco just before the concrete starts... Then again that wall is also there to protect track workers so at least it will do that

Makes me think that Kvyat could've gone airborne and into the marshalls area...

Cynical me says Netflix producers have been waiting for an accident like this. So many new viewers and more money...just like how Imola 1994 really made F1 worldwide phenomenon.

Amazing shot. But I can now see all safety crews having closed faced helmets.

Dramatic music, stretched out, switching to ominous music. Feels like he was stuck for 90 seconds. They might even add a flatline tune in the scene.

If they would have had even just a single row of tires, nothing would have happened imho. So if thats not the very end to every single naked armco in F1, i really dont know.
We should also get rid of aramco while were at it btw.
