That would make a perfect opening episode of the final season of NASCAR.

Kill it, piss on the grave, and salt the earth.

Hard to imagine how a plate race could get any worse than what I just watched

And how is it that DW, in his dotage, is the only one in the booth to assign blame correctly? It was embarrassing to hear Gordon continually say Paul came down when the onboard showed no such move.

Gordon obviously gonna stick up for JJ. Former teammates and best friends.

Probably the only reason I don't like Gordon in the booth. Conflict of interest.

Agreed. When you're commentating you need to call it how it is.

and just like every other year, the Clash (or) Xfinity race ends up being the biggest shit show of the week while ARCA is one of the cleaner races

I was about to change my assessment of the leader blocking but Paul in his interview actually said "I saw Jimmie there and came down on him and he got into me..."

Now I guess it's just a product of the shitty package. You can't make a move, so you get desperate, the guy in front knows if he doesn't block, he's gonna be stuck behind and it was starting to rain (according to jimmie) so they both knew it was race over at that point

It was the most inevitable thing in NASCAR history.

And don't forget, NASCAR is fixing the 1.5 miler package to be just like this

Jesus wept.

I love how delusional modern NASCAR fans are about the CLASH. Everyone seems to concentrate only on the wreck and the mentality that "when its time to go, you gotta do what you gotta do". First - okay maybe in Bowman Gray its the norm but within guys claiming to be "the best stock car drivers in the world" i hardly doubt it. Second - and the biggest problem I had with this "race" was that there was no race. The super speedway package is ruined once again (last years dega gave good hints on that of course) where there is no point in forming a second line as it can not move anywhere. We have a single file train going in circles and then a stupid wreck takes out most of it. It just looks like every year I have this small excitment going into speedweeks that "maybe this year it will be different" only to feel utter dissapointment after watching the first few laps.

Oh and thinking that the whole season will look like this is not helping one bit. It is beyond repair. RIP

How does that make the fans delusional exactly? It sounds like you're agreeing. And ditto on the excitement turning into disappointment. I'm almost used to it at this point and don't even get too excited for the plate races anymore. I'll still watch them, but I keep my expectations really low.

They're changing the engine and aero starting in the Spring Dega race. Maybe that'll bring some decent racing but I'm not gonna get my hopes up.

Delusional in a way that apart from the big wreck its okay to have racing like this - nothing happens for 99% of the race and then whenever someone tries anything it ends up in a pile-up. What I mean is that RP racing should be drivers making moves throughout the race, trying to find ways to move into better positions. unfortunately the product we have right now just does not allow it. I also despise the term "if you don't like this kind of racing then do not watch it". I have watched NASCAR with its ups and downs more or less the last 30 years and it is hard to completely detach myself from it.

I got Ryan Newman as my Random Fantasy Racing pick for the Daytona 500. Oddly, Roush-Fenway Racing got the #31 of Tyler Reddick as their pick.

And that destroyed the front end of FHgrad99's pick. (Am I doing this right?)

I like after 50 something laps of nothing happening, the first legitimate chance at a lead change ends up with 85% of the field with some sort of damage. If this is a sign of things to come, I’m gonna watch every race flag to flag with popcorn and lube and a giant neon sign that reads “asterisk” that I can light up whenever the race ends.
