With some proper research and development, the windscreen should be able to take the force of a wheel.

Even if it didn't, it is 100x more effective at stopping smaller bits of debris. The only way the halo is going to stop a piece of debris is if it hits directly in the centre (and if it's carbon fibre, it could shatter all over the driver). The screen would have had no problem stopping the spring that hit Massa. Would halo have stopped it? I don't think so. It didn't hit Massa in the middle of the head.

They claim their computer analyst's show it would have stopped Massa being injured. However, small debris aren't magically attracted it the halo and can still go under, get deflected to a worse position.

The halo is just bullshit.

The drivers asked for head protection yes, but not this. FIA have been blaming the drivers pressuring them for it being implemented.

Yeah that would be good, but when in 2017 they said there will be halo on cars, they knew that you cant see anything, they even tested it during practices in 2016, so they had 2 years to put it on best places when its introduced. Cuz shoulder cam is fucked right now. Onboard over driver let say so so.
And now nothing until 2019 till then its fixed like it is unfortunatley.

A bit like FOM with the tv graphics, year after year they come to Melbourne and they don't work! Not like they haven't had all winter to tweak, test and iron out any issues with them?

How bonkers would it be for the halo to include super strong magnets that could actually attact large pieces of metal? Of course the speed they go at may mean it wouldn't work, but it'd be interesting nonetheless.

FIA are going to develop a ultra high tech sensor in the front of the car that activate an EMP that deflects any shard of debris away from driver sight

initial cost: 15 million euro each car and is mandatory for sure

Hey liberty media, guess who fucked up big time?

I am yet to see a crash test or a demonstration stating that the windscreen can deflect a wheel travelling at it at 225kph, without breaking and without detaching from the cockpit.

I am yet to see a crash test or a demonstration proving that the windscreen can resist to a car landing on it upside down. I am yet to see a load figure of how much it can take and if it can handle as much as the HALO is proven to do (it's stronger than the holl hoop).

For now, all we know is that it's sexy looking. That's it. I am not saying it won't work, I'm just saying that comparing two engineering items purely on aesthetics is not fair with the info that we have now.

(and for the record, I wish that both would fuck right off of my open cockpit series)

Unless I missed then, where are the videos proving the halo can withstand said claims?

The Williams is probably the worst one.
Image

The pit lane channel is now not just the pits, It showed OnBoards live & occasionally replays the OnBoard of the fastest lap to that point. The engine brand is displayed next to the team name on the graphics, Something that isn't done on the World-feed or OnBoard-mix.
Image
It's cool, However they play audio from all the feeds on display at the same time which is not only annoying but also drowns out the team radio.

Rev-Counter on the OnBoard-Mix is the same style as recent years, Just with the new font.

Data channel which Sky sadly still don't take & I'm not sure which broadcasters do, I'd presume it will be on the OTT service:

Standard timing page 4 is the same just with new font:

would be lovely if they labeled the 4 buttons you can see on the steering wheel with the four letters F-U-C-K :whistling:
