From what I've observed most Sportscar fans watch F1 anyway, but I suppose you get that hard core element

So the best crash I have ever witnessed, and no replay to be found?

Only Aftermath, and no replay at all.

It'll be a while til a spectator video of the crash show up.

Looks that way. Do they still have those ridiculous sausage kerbs on the inside of Raidillon? Wouldn't be surprised if he went over them

It did, pic is taken when he was already landing again.

I'm guessing it could've gone like this, if it wasn't contact with another car that sent him into the air. I'm pretty sure those white strips are still there. They are not that high though, but if they're high enough to flip over an F3 car imagine what they can do to an LMP1...

Another angle:
Spoiler:

Another SMP car btw..

I don't think he went of on the left of the track, it was on the right. Closer to the pit exit.

Like I said, he was following a GT car through Eau Rouge. I assume he tried to pass that car on the outside at Raidillon, on top of the hill. They touched, and the flatbottomed Proto got air under him and did a Dumbreck Le Mans 1999.

I also noticed that Eau Rouge itself is incredibly bumpy, the protos were dancing all over the place. No wonder Fittipaldi lost control.

Or a Franchitti? Once the car is in the air all bets are off, it could roll as well and present any side

:8: Loving this though. It reminds me of the old TBK crash photo speculation threads, where for old crashes you'd be happy to find an aftermath pic, let alone one mid-action. We got used to multi-angle coverage of each millimeter of a track. :p

There are CCTV cameras at Spa though right?

See this semi-famous crash from a few years ago:

Sometimes footage like this gets released, so they at least may have caught it?

Pretty sure they won't release the CCTV footage. The last image the FIA and WEC wants to see is flying prototypes.

that's a pity

years ago tv broadcasters would use that footage in their promos to show "look, we have an action packed racing series, if you watch you'll see the best of wrecks around"
