The car already comes airborne into the frame, so I don't think the Eau Rouge rumblestrips caused that. Looks like the car started to take off before that.
Note that he was behind the Toyota LMP1

After it flies through the shot, some debris flies up from the run off

It's not massive, but could that be enough to get a bit of air under it, exacerbated by the incline?

A bit like this I suppose:

I'm sure Jenson will be delighted to see his ride for Le Mans behaving in such a manner.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Already had a good idea of what it looked like in my head, but man that's still crazy. Like Mattzel said though, what's weird is that it seems to have got airbourne so early

That baby got light in the nose coming up the hill. The reason it's over on drivers left is the front wheels weren't touching the ground. Loss of front downforce combined with cresting the hill and over it went.

I agree. Strips had nothing to do with that one. Wild ride for sure.

that looked great, well better than I expected. That's how you go airborne

You know the forum is desperate for footage when everyone wets themselves without even mentioning the poor camerawork.

Pietro just spoke for the first time after the quali crash, while in rehab in Indianapolis.

Quote:
I'm fine. Happy for being here in Indianapolis, being able to begin the rehab, because I want to come back to the cockpit as soon as possible. Of course, it [the accident] wasn't the best thing that could have happened. I was in quali, did the first lap, was beginning the second lap. So I went towards Eau Rouge, when I went upwards, I had an electric problem in the car. It shut down. As these cars have Power Steering, when they shut down you lose the aid in the steering. The wheel gets hard, it's impossible to control and I went straight to the wall. I crashed and unfortunately broke the legs. But, like I said, I want to get back as soon as possible
