I was just going to ask what the FCY was for. Debris... Is that not why there's a course condition flag? I get the yellow for the tent, but a small piece of bodywork? Seemed it was mostly off the racing line too.

It was a big bit in the middle of the start/finish straight. Someone attempts an overtake, hits it and much shredding of tyres is possible.

Because they don't have a Code 60, they waste so many laps behind the SC for a bit of debris.

So speak people who aren't marshals and don't have to go out onto live racetracks to pick up debris

Cars can still hurt pretty damn much at 60KM/H

Better to keep the human beings and the machinery separate as much as possible thanks.

They've wasted how long for one bit of debris now?

And more restart shenanigans

Ah. I was away and only briefly saw the guy pick something up and toss it in the pickup.

Come to think of it, I'm not sure they could even use a Code 60. IMSA doesn't allow the track Marshalls over the barriers on a live race track anymore. All the guys out there are either IMSA officials or the safety crew guys. I don't believe any of the corner Marshalls are allowed on track.

Well they can just tweak it to allow them to.

Be better than wasting the time they did under that caution.

Again, human lives are more important than your interest levels during cautions

IMSA have it right

You don't care about the marshals, every time they haven't brought out an SC you've bitched about them not artificially closing up the field. That's all you care about, not the marshals.

Code 60 is just as safe because they go at the SC speed.

Besides, YOU are the one who bitches about losing interest when a long race inevitably spreads out.

Does 60 KM/H hurt less if it is during a FCY vs. virtual safety car / Code 60? :whistling:

No, you're the one that wants humans to risk their lives on live racetracks just to satisfy your need for purism.

If it closes up the field that's a nice side effect but primarily its about getting the field bunched up so the marshals can deal with the incident while the train is away from them

Why do these cautions take so long?

The #6 was moved ages ago.
