Toyotas's best lap of the race is half second faster than the Audis. If they can have the same amount of pits in other tracks, they might win it.

edit: well, maybe they won't win anything as for sure Audi will have that extra winglet on it's rear, by Interlagos. It's really unbelievable that ACO/FIA allowed it

Audi considered the idea and decided not to go down that route some time ago. Doubtful we'll see it, although one never knows.

ALMS is going break it's best class by introducing GT Am.

I have even better idea: lets put each in its own class, so everybody can win and it will be very simple to follow.

edit: apparently this was old news: http://auto-racing.speedtv.com/article/ ... -2013-aco/

Look here during the week: http://www.dailymotion.com/user/fiawec/1

...if they do what they did with Spa (that 52-min highlights show, the same one they produce for tv channels actually).

i.e. avoiding a clash with New Jersey GP

John Dagys reporting that ALMS and Grand-Am are to announce a merger on Wednesday. Grand-Am to be the sanctioning body.

Wow that's scary. At least all the major north American events will be under one roof.

Hopefully this means real prototypes at Daytona.

I hope they don't derp up the prototype rules too much.

Haven't read it all through yet, but would this mean that WEC would lose Sebring?

Or would WEC take Daytona 24? Dear god, I hope they ditch the DP's and go for all ACO regulations. I don't want ALMS to change its face.

I'm surprised but I'm not surprised. As great as the ALMS GT class is, it couldn't survive on 3 or 4 prototypes for much longer.

Kind of bittersweet in that it's good there is one series now but bad that NASCAR is essentially in charge of it all. I love NASCAR but sports car racing is not their forte. Grand-Am already gets on my nerves with their NASCAR-like hair trigger in throwing a yellow every chance they get to 'bunch em boys up' as well as the dubious officiating like we saw at the Indy superduperweekend.

Why not have LMP1, LMP2, DP, GT1 (ALMS) and GT2 (GA)?

I'm interested to see how this all turns out. I think there might be a huge field of GT cars at Daytona next year.

Looks like GrandAm are going into this from the stronger position, so I wouldn't be suprised to see the DPs staying on, if anything I think the LMPs will be gone. Shame for ALMS, up until the last couple of years it was a great series to watch.

And the time's coming for the regular Saturday night feature, will the ALMS.com stream work at all?
