Looks a lot more familiar (since it is the same DW12 chassis) in real life. The Dallara nose shape.

is it just me or do the cars looks shorter? Not in comparison with this year's as obviously the wheels guards add2 feet, but with the old reynards, lolas even the DP01. Does anyone know the actual length?

I also think there's a pleasant similarity to CART's 2000-01 Lola (Officially known as Lola BK/00). Everybody talk about the unforgettable Reynards but we cannot forget those Lolas from early 2000's were pretty as hell too.

Was amazing how during 97-98 Lola were nowhere in CART (no doubt in fact to the disastrous F1 effort), by 2000 teams were tripping over each other for a Lola chassis and were regular race winners!

Update on the possible race in Mexico on next year's schedule. AHR is leading venue again, and race is considered as a domestic race rather than a international race so the date could fall around August to October.

IndyCar is testing at Gateway today after they repaved the track.

Are they running the road race configuration there? Lame.

No, they're running the oval for the race.

I thought @

was referring to the road spec bodywork, like was used at Phoenix

I think he meant the aero configuration maybe?

In which case yes, they are running the road course/short oval wings instead of the speedway wings as CART had done in the past.

EDIT: Damnit, kals beat me to it.

They do.

...look shorter but is it actually shorter. I haven't seen the official dimentions/specs listed anywhere yet.

At least it is still the same DW12 tub.

the cars are shorter overall without the rear pods, but I don't think they changed the wheelbase considering it's the same chassis. Unless the numbers have changed in recent years, wheelbase is around 118 to 120 inches (adjustable).

They do.

Cars with short/shorte wheelbases are really hard to drive normally, so it looks like it would be a great challenge.

Believe it or not, this was a driver's request when they shifted to DW12 some years ago.

That's what they should be using on road courses. Nice reasonable front wing.

I predict a lot of teams petitioning for a move to sidepod/nose cams instead of those potentially draggy Roll-hoop cams in 2018
