Team Stange Racing, which last raced in ARCA a couple years back is wanting to do a 500 program for 2018

Wow, I'm kinda surprised that Sato left when they are staying with Honda.

Apparently Sato's move to Rahal was caused by Andretti's procrastination over Honda and Chevy. Sato's had a great year, his best in Indycar. He and Rossi have been the standouts at Andretti during another sub-par performance by the team. And Rossi has been signed for another 2 years at Andretti.

According to Indystar, it's likely we won't see Kanaan and Chilton, and probably Kimball, back at Ganassi next year.

Good. Ganassi has been embarrassingly bad the past few years (minus Dixon of course).

These mega teams should start investing in the future, not sticking with the past. Andretti and Penske have somewhat done that by taking on Rossi and Newgarden yet Ganassi are the lagards. Dixon will remain competitive and a contender for a few more years, but drivers like Munoz, Jones, Pigot, Veach, Harvey and Daly shouldn't be sitting on the sidelines or in less competitive seats thanks to moneybags drivers or drivers past their prime.

That I agree with. TK is way past it and hasn't shown any sign of bouncing back like Helio's done this year. He should have called time on his career already. Dixon is 37 but has plenty of years left in him. Chilton's always been shit, the epitome of money over talent. Kimball's had good runs, more useful then either TK or Chilton that's for sure.

If Helio is offered the IMSA drive he should take it, bow out of IndyCar before he turns into TK.

If either Chilton or Kimball go it will be an entirely financial decision.

TK probably would be financial as well. I know they want Rosenqvist in that car but Truls will need to get someone to get their chequebook out to make it happen.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

TK is still in the car because the sponsor likes him.

NTT also sponsor the #9 now. If push came to shove, and Ganassi asked them to become the primary on the #9 in exchange for letting TK go...would they say no?

I'd be surprised if Chilton gets the boot for 'financial' reasons, unless of course Dad is up to his usual tricks. If anything I'd say he's the least likely to be given the boot, either that or Chip is in so much strife Chilton's millions makes no difference and because he comes with a ton of baggage, they feel it's just not worth the hassle.

That'll be the case eventually though, if it isn't already...

Sato could do more in a ganassi car than kanaan tbh

Wouldn't necessarily be Ganassi's decision.

Aren't the Chiltons quite close to Trevor Carlin?

I believe so, far as I know Daddy Chiltons been trying to talk Carlin into an Indycar team.

His current boss doesn't think so, but then would Alonso tell him?

Although I would be amazed if Alonso steps into anything with a Honda in the back ever again after November.

--------------------------------

Andretti might only have three drivers on his books, but apparently has room for 2 more.

More than that, Grahame (Daddy) owns Carlin, much like how he owned Arena before shitting on everybody that worked there so he doesn't have to 'talk' Trevor into anything lol.

But to me there's a difference between 'not being retained' and 'leaving', maybe it's just as simple as Chip getting the first punch in.
