Ultimately the series is going to have a spec engine built by Ilmor unless a new manufacturer can be persuaded to sign on with the obligations that exist today i.e. building their own. The only question is over what format. If Honda's suggestion is popular with other prospective manufacturers then the series would be remiss to ignore it. Otherwise, the alternative is Honda'e engine going away and leaving the series with the Ilmor engine that currently exists, with or without Chevy branding.

And having a spec engine does open up possibilities with innovation - they could build a 3-litre V10 that runs on hydrogen or Vettel's bee juice, or something else that isn't dead dinosaurs. Show everyone else that you can have the best of both worlds; a loud and powerful top-line racing series that also doesn't pollute. Contemporary racing doesn't have to turn into an electric monopoly. If they were to go with hydrogen then you would think Toyota would be champing at the bit.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

if they went full on hybrids perhaps Toyota could join the ship as they're on the leading edge of the technology, specially after years of WEC domination

I agree, but hydrogen cars don't tend to be very loud. ;)

Synthetics it is, then. Or you can try and build an engine that could rev at 14,000 and last a fifth of the season.

Help for this may come from Robb, who is in contention to nick what is currently Pedersen's seat.

Robb has now nicked Pedersen's seat.

Pruett believes that this opens the door for Ilott to come in and share the #14 with Ferrucci - Ferrucci would get the ovals and any other races that Ilott isn't free for.

Two pieces of good news to close out the year. Firstly, the 500 is on pace to sell out (there were fewer than 10,000 tickets unsold this year).

Second, the best-case scenario for the video game is the most likely one; back to iRacing with a standalone game to come later on.

Just make them even more hybrid

Probably needs a new chasis to go with them tbh

I'm looking forward to the higher top speeds and unregulated boost though, should make things spicy.

Could you or someone link me to some detailed information on that?

It's mentioned here, halfway through this article, P2P is going from 60BHP for 200 seconds to 150BHP whenever you want:

https://www.the-race.com/indycar/whats-happening-with-indycars-2024-hybrid-engine/

So, basically like how F1 drivers have to manage their batteries, I guess, only it's a super capacator, not a battery.

How will it get a chance to recharge in that case? Maybe we're talking about different things...

Ah yes that’s right, it’s a super capacitor that I think charges up from the brakes, so they won’t be able to keep their finger on the button all day.
