Here's some video of Josef Newgarden's exhibition run on the Charlotte Roval after NASCAR qualifying a few minutes ago. That was fun to watch. I was pleasantly surprised.

Getting real "A1 GP at the Lausitzring" vibes. And that's not a bad thing

as a CLT local, I'd absolutely go if talks advanced & they ended up doing a race

but..... there's like nowhere to pass there. The second chicane ruin turn 1 & you can't get enough speed for a large braking area on the backstraight chicane - infield is very iffy, maybe if you set someone up exiting Redneck Hill

It is pretty cool for a roval but really shouldn't be on the top list of tracks to be added.

I didn't know roval with elevations was even a thing until I saw some of the Xfinity race yesterday.

only one that I know of it's kind for the infield section, was there in the old configuration too - used to park my hauler for races where turn 2 (exit before the double right) of the infield is now

I guess the original Phoenix road course, Texas World (rip), Michigan (original layout) might count on the elevation side if you added in the back side sections (and the fact that one of them doesn't connect with the oval)

-

exactly my thoughts tho, and honestly give Richmond a chance before front loading on races in the region, RIR is only 4 1/2 hours away - which will get the diehards traveling up including myself (obviously won;t get alot of casuals from down there tho)

Today McLaren F1 signed to run Mercedes engines starting next year. I'm calling it now, Mercedes back to indycar, with McLaren, for the new engine rules in 2022. 8)

Don't forget New Hampshire who has an elevation change in its road course to rival Road America.

can't believe I did, one of my favorite tracks too - wish it was suitable for more than bikes & Legend Cars

It's a bit short too isn't it, maybe they could extend it a bit.

A silly season article from Miller masquerading as a puff piece for the Indy Lights.

https://racer.com/2019/09/30/miller-rac ... ers-again/

tl;dr-

-Askew was offered Hinch's seat at SPAM for Laguna Seca over the ESPN malarky.
-Miller adds credence to the idea of a part-time Ganassi car for Askew.
-Jumbo will be paying for van Kalmthout to have a drive next year. Special Ed looks the most likely home at the moment but that would be in the shared car.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Ericsson might be heading to Ganassi - in a 3rd car.

In Swedish: http://www.bilsport.se/artikel/marcus-o ... tall-2020/

tl;dr: Ericsson's personal sponsors are still loaded.

It looks more narrow than I remember it looking on the renders. Nice.

I'm sure they thought of this, but I still don't understand how the safety team will be able to reach down and extract a driver, or as someone mentioned here, what would've happened in Hinch's crash.

Well if there is one thing IndyCar lucked out on today, it's the weather in Indy - temps very close to what a hot day at the 500 are
