I really hope IndyCar surprises this week, because my expectations for this track with literally every series on 4 wheels is very low |

I've always liked COTA and, although it was designed with F1 in mind, if F1 can pass here, Indycar won't have any problems Willing to bet they'll be passing in places F1 cars can't by the end of the race too.... |

I wish turn #15 was put on the next SpaceX mission if it didn't have the stadium section & wasn't crazy wide going into narrow with 10 million miles of runoff every other corner, it would be a great track. It's like 7/10th to being great for cars. It's aweesome for bikes tho |

If they struggle like Dixon did from that testing onboard then we might be in for a cracker of a race! |

I like the fact that IndyCar has longer races than the so-called "pinnacle of motorsport". |

This track would be so much better if they bulldozed the 6-7-8-9 complex and replaced it with a joker ramp. Also, it's pretty bad when the gokart track has a better layout than the real course. |

so this is the first time IndyCar races in a track with purpose built parking lot runoffs right? apart from Indy road course |

Somebody in charge at IndyCar (forgot the name) was quoted by Marshall Pruett in his podcast saying that there is no place at COTA where you would have any advantage leaving the track. |

From what I recall, while of course they have runoffs, they do not have the massive parking lot style runoffs you see in F1 tracks these days. (COTA at least has some gravel traps if I recall, but more importantly, the older tracks like the Glen and Road America often have more of a "fast flowing" nature that is lacking in the "long straight 1st gear corner" Tilke style designs At least COTA is only a half-Tilke track.) |

ah I forgot about the Glen, but I also thought of tracks that also served F1 recently Despite the changes Watkins Glen for me is one of the best road courses in North America (except from the boot, that is just silly) |

Scotty wrote: Would be such a good track if they just ditch corners 13,14 and made 15 the end of the straight. This would make it a lot more like turn 12 at Istanbul. Which is just fine with me. |

Wasn't there a race here in one series, where there were no track limits? I seem to remember cars taking stupid lines across the run offs. |
