Today, Scott Dixon was the luckiest driver in the world. No attack, no pace, involved in a pile-up, got a drive-through, yet still extended his points lead.

Fittipaldi got a top 10. Good for him recovering from his Spa injuries.

Another fantastic race. Other than the big ovals, 2018 has been a phenomenal year for IndyCar. And how insanely lucky did Dixon get today???

Rossi will be hoping Dixon used it all up today.

Just got back from the track. That was such a good race. I saw Shithead Ferucci do a nasty back and forth block on someone coming out of the chicane.

Tony Kanaan really struggled in the first stint judging by his high steering input compared to others. Unsurprisingly he came into the pits pretty quickly.

Leist looked really good comparatively despite finishing lower than Kanaan. He was one of the few who rode the curbs in the chicane.

It was a much more entertaining race than I expected and the stands were packed. :D

One interesting thing I noticed was that Fittipaldi's and Ferruci's cars were backfiring pretty badly in the chicane, while most others sounded pretty smooth 99% of the time, including Bourdais.

Anyway, that would've been a good season finale but I'm looking forward to Sonoma...

Well, at least one of those 2 cars was full of shit. Maybe that had something to do with it. :whistling:

That last corner is awesome. It really tests your trail braking skills, or lack thereof, ahaha

Not sure if it was shown on the coverage at the time, but Ed Jones was pretty sure he was 'nicked' in the head by flying car, or at least parts:

I think it's pretty clear the roll hoop kept the car above him here, but I didn't even spot this until I had the misfortune to scroll past the usual 'SAVED BY HALO LOLOLOLOL' comments which are apparently still the height of wit.

Can the aero screen take the weight of a whole racecar (well, a London double-decker bus) like the HALO does? I hope they do a professor B. video about it detailing the load cases when it's released. After these crashes they surely can't release just a debris impact protection, it would have to take the brunt of a whole chassis landing on it with no adverse effect

- I am legally obliged to also state that despite my curiosity in these devices design, I still think it defeats the purpose of open-cockpit racing :p

Well, aeroscreen is made out of material that can take frozen turkey projectile to the windscreen of an aeroplane in speeds over 800 km/h per hour.

So it's tough material, but can it projectile a whole car away, I don't know. Maybe it would share the weight of the car between the roll hoop and the edge of the screen in Herta Elkhart Lake 1996 type of accident.

There's a small chance that if a car gets t-boned, the nosecone could hit the top of drivers helmet, but that would be extremely unlikely and require a lot of things going wrong.
