For the first time since 2007, IndyCars will be hitting the track at Portland International Raceway. The track has been reconfigured slightly since the last race, with turn 7 being reprofiled. Only 7 drivers in the field who have raced at Portland in a AOWR car, and Bourdais is the only previous winner.

It really is. I'd much rather see it be a more defined individual corner, then a longer run out to make it still a nice hard braking zone, but an easier and more flowing exit so that it gives you a better chance to pass somebody.

When we run Portland in our online league we run without the chicane, much better more flowing layout that way.

I'm okay with chicanes in general, but this sort of triangle cut into a straight is such an uncreative way to slow cars down (same as Monza T1).

The old Rettifilio at Monza and the Loop at Watkins Glen at least give a different challenge by forcing you to pick a clever line as you cannot use the full track width.

Nothing wrong with the Festival Curves, it adds a passing spot, which wouldn't exist otherwise.

It's not the simple fact that it's a chicane that makes it bad. The problem is that it's a terrible chicane.

Yeah this is the time of year where the grass is at its least green. They should race here in late April instead as that is the greenest time of year and there is more of a chance of rain.

Raceday forecast is 26C (79F) and sunny with no chance of rain.

They used to here race in June. It traditionally was the first permanent road course of the year.

Njaah, just look at the color of the grass in Indycar Racing 2 :lol:

....man makes me feel old.

So cool to see these cars on this track, there were some good races in the late nineties.
