with it being Sonoma, I wasn't expecting it to be the best race in the world. But it wasn't terrible. Pags & Newgarden at the end with the pit strategy was fun to watch.

Remember though, could always be a worse track (cough CoTA cough)

Chilton ruins every race he competes in.

CoTA is more boring as a track, but I'm pretty confident the IndyCars could put on a MUCH better show there than at Sonoma.

Shit race, why on earth do they still race at this track

Really glad for Newgarden though! Very cool

So happy for Newgarden, the race was pretty tame but that was ok.

Rumor is the sponsors love the nearby wineries.

Maybe it's coincidence, but there seems to be a fairly significant amount of past Indycar drivers who now have wineries. (EG: Mario Andretti, AJ Foyt, Jimmy Vasser, Scott Pruett, Danica Patrick, and a example of someone who has had better success as a winemaker than a driver, Randy Lewis...)

I've been to AJ Foyt's winery in Indy. It's actually really nice. Great wine, great atmosphere, and they have one of his show cars from '91 or '92.

if I drink wine while watching a race in Sonoma is quite possible I fall asleep before lap 3

The track is really good, has all the features I like, sudden elevations, dusty, uneven, grass/gravel. I'd rather see a finale be at a proper drivers track esp with 2x points to play for, than at a Fontana or whatever where the chances of getting caught up in a freak deal is higher.

It's a better track for sports cars. I.e. ALMS

It just needs a place to pass

The NASCAR track (with the short cut from turn 4 to 7, and the longer run without chicane at 9 + harder braking point at 11), would improve a lot the racing at this track.
