Definitely hoping for 230mph+ for qualifying. They are still doing the extra boost for that?

Commentators said the boost goes up on Fast Friday in preparation for qualifying

I don't reallllly think anyone will be wrecking until then as the cars look very stable atm

I am amazed that no-one has tripped over another car yet.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I suspect the teams are all just being cautious with the setups. I could be wrong but it would be weird if the new cars were easier to drive on the ovals even though we know they're more challenging on the RCs/streets.

Castroneves doing his best to start the tally. Two near-misses within the space of 4 miles.

Well, as they've mentioned, the new car, punches a bigger hole in the air, and there is not much they can change in terms of aero compared to previous years, so when you have 10+ cars on the same straightaway, things are going to get tense..

And now in the RIGHT thread.... :whistling:

ATM it looks easy flat all the way around, but I don't think that'll stay the case for fast friday and qualifying

(do they race with increased boost or is that just for qualy? :? )

When I was watching onboards of cars in traffic, there was a fair bit of lifting going on, surprisingly.

Increased boost is only for Fast Friday and qualifying.

We'll see. I doubt they've got the cars trimmed out too much. Lot of race day setup and just getting laps for the notebook these first few days.

Today and tomorrow I would think they'll start taking downforce out of the cars and getting closer to the edge.

I know it's the 500 and everything is special but is there really even any need for the stronger teams to trim that much for qualifying? Given the way these cars race, if you nail the race setup it probably won't matter where you start.

Well, maybe I'm wrong: https://www.autosport.com/indycar/news/ ... th-aerokit

The bits of drafting practice I saw yesterday seemed to have plenty of passing. Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention to the front of the pack.

The problem lies behind the third car in line.

It mattered where you started when they were handing out the same points for pole as there were for finishing P2 anywhere else.

This year, not so much.

Watching almost constantly since three days and havent even seen a wiggle. Maybe that new car is a tiny bit too easy to drive?
