They're really hammering the CART races atm, this can only be a good thing :)

Been watching the '98 CART season. Reached the race at Milwaukee, the only telecasts for it are some so/so Eurosport/TEN broadcasts, everything else still looks pretty good despite being recorded on VHS I'm sure. I didn't follow CART closely back then, only a race here and there, so it's somewhat "new" to me.

Throwback videos were chosen by the fans a few months back, so I assume some more good ones from 90's CART are coming

It was a hell of a race too. Looking at that track you'd think there'd no way anyone would be able to pass anywhere, but by god they made it happen

Still, Zanardi would get all kinds of penalties for his move on the leader these days. And probably shoved by Herta in pit road too.
Then he'd have to go officiate an IRL race or something as punishment :whistling:

Passing also happened because they were less dicks when it came to blocking back then. You could be an absolute pain in the ass hogging the inside at 2 and 3, but people didn't do it because a misunderstanding exiting 2 could hurt someone real bad.

Even Paul Tracy wasn't that much of a dick lol.

Al Unser Jr., Bobby Rahal, Mario Andretti, Emerson Fittipaldi, even Jacques Villeneuve...those guys were very fair racers.

For how awesome CART was in every single year (most notably 1989-2001), 1997 will always hold a special place in my mind. 1995, 1996, 1998, and 1999 as well but to a slightly lesser extent. Such amazing days those were.

Gugelmins Hollywood livery was gorgeous. So many beautiful cars then.

I had almost forgotten how bloated and huge those crapwagons looked. It's kind of impressive just how awful the camera coverage was for that Donnie Beechler flip too.

IMS is starting to upload full remastered Indy 500's to their own YT account. Below is their newest upload (They also have the 2011 and 2013 race).

Ah, the one that was an easy kerb-stomp victory, not the one that he didn't win.

That race sucked. The day I realised the CART I loved was dead.

Funny, I was just thinking it was a better race than I remember, mainly because I didn't see it live and eurosport made a bad job of editing it down with carlton kirby commentary, so anything is probably better than that.

It was the time I realised CART was worth fighting for and 18 of those cars run by new teams was infinitely preferable to the crappy cars ran by the other side

fwiw, 2003 was actually a pretty good season. Definitely not like the 90s but...

it appears ESPN's 30 for 30 series will have a documentary on Janet Guthrie this year

ESPN's 30 for 30 premiered "Qualified" this week at SXSW in Austin. This becomes the second documentary featuring IndyCar for 2019 (alongside Mario's incoming doc on NBC)
