I hated the idea....I prefered IndyCar in Sao Paulo, the event here was a big success but If it's Brasilia, then make it to Brasilia. They will need a big reform because the circuit is outdated for an intenational series like that. It's fast and cool for Stock Car but not for IndyCar. Besides I think Brasilia is a shitty place....it's in the middle of a desert. In states like São Paulo or Rio IndyCar would be a LOT more attractive like you guys saw when they came to Rio and Sao Paulo.

I still think it would be a lot cheaper and easier If somebody had an idea of building a short oval just like Milwaukee Mile or New Hampshire in Brazil aiming IndyCar until 2019 and beyond.

Brasilia isn't in the middle of a desert. It's quite wet from October to April. I'm pretty sure it will be a rain race next year. :D

I wouldn't mind three races in Brazil (Brasilia, Rio oval, and Sao Paulo street course).

The new layout doesnt differs much from what we've got, so I'm cool with that. It may make things even better, it's not an Tilke maze that looks like it was designed tying up a brush in a drunken cat tail and setting him loose.

Also, I love Brasilia, one of the most pleasnts cities I've been. No signals, the traffic flows. MUCH better than São Paolo and Rio in that matter. Heck yeah.

What happened to the Rio oval (not so oval in fact, with those tight corners)?

A real waste of a nice track. I guess its the inevitable "progress" that is required for the Olympics.

So that it could be abandoned once the Olympics are over?

I bet they will get the same idea as Russia turning it in a street course, the horror...

Well, it can't be worse than Athens.

No, it's not. Brasilia is located at a very dry place similar to a Savana, it rains very little during the year. I haven't seen a rainy race there in Stock Car Brasil for the past ten years.

Except the external ring, I don't like the circuit layout. If they are going to reform it, they should design something different, there's a lot of empty space there. I wonder why they don't try an oval there.

Regarding popularity I think IndyCar is way more popular in Sao Paulo and Rio than anywhere else....now Brasilia....it's hard to defend this race, I don't like Brasilia, gotta confess that.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bras%C3%ADlia

Almost no rain from May to August, then 200ml per month.

I remeber bein there in winter vacations (July) and there were little fires everywhere, so dry. Sometimes even the school gets a day off because of dry wheater. And when that first rain comes, the oil over the streets makes for a very very slippery road.

I'm not completely wrong because in some millions of years the region where Brasilia is located will certainly become a desert as it's clearly a transition from the atlantic tropical biome and the savannah of the midwest. It may rain in summer but overall the drought in Brasilia has been severe in recent years.

Post subject:  Re: 2014 Verizon IndyCar Season

the dry weather allowed Brasilia track to remain the same tarmac since 1975. that thing is so rough that might wear tires with 10 laps

hopefully they'll revamp and racing will be ok (until Bandeirantes get away from the contract)

Post subject:  Re: 2014 Verizon IndyCar Season

But old tarmac is good for racing, not for the drivers, but is nice to watch. Though I'm sure they'll revamp everything, now that the golden eggs chicken (world cup stadium) is done, this is a very nice way to fatten that Swiss account. I can only be happy with what will actually be really invested on track.

Post subject:  Re: 2014 Verizon IndyCar Season

the main problem concerning Brasilia is that they build something that costs X, but they insists it costs 4X and in the end the costs rises up to 6X, like national stadium, at least 400 million went right to Switzerland

Post subject:  Re: 2014 Verizon IndyCar Season

I don't think that's a problem exclusive to Brazil.

Post subject:  Re: 2014 Verizon IndyCar Season

haha no, not exclusive to Brazil in the slightest....
