Esteban Gutierrez confirmed at Dale Coyne for the remainder of the season.

He'll take his first oval test, next week in Iowa.

Also, rovals suck and should be banned from existence. Name me one single exciting infield track? None. Literally none (Yes, Daytona, you too). They're all flat putrid slow corner-vomit of an excuse to go around and get back on the banking. :)

You mad bruh?

Although not true "rovals", Rio and Motegi were/are great complexes. Trenton was also really unique. But yeah as far as infield road courses like Daytona, fontana, phoenix, Las Vegas, lausitz, Rockingham, etc... yeah :yuk:

Technically, Monza at one time also was a "roval". :p

I can't think of a really good infield-only roval though. New Hampshire's road course goes outside the track which helps.

(Maybe Calder Park would've been good too? It's a nearly dead circuit now, and they've only run one combined oval / road course race there, so it's hard to tell.)

Yeah, though that's more of a separate road course and oval on the same space (like Motegi). Another one in the Rio style (eg: primarily a road course that has an oval layout also built in) is Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City. These styles of road / oval courses can be good.

Still can't think of a good infield oval road course. :p

I'll just leave this here, as I've constantly done with Mears' previous one.

Well worth a read for your morning coffee or evening beer.

Mears speaks sense,...PLEASE LISTEN TO HIM INDYCAR, I BEG

Also it seems Ed Carpenter deliberately tries to sit down and decide how he can be as wrong as possible.
Of all the screwy theories about the texas race, he tries to victim blame the drivers involved

All of them who are of a much better quality than him because they don't find a road course an impossible challenge.

Actually I'd say he has a point over the other drivers, most of them were driving like idiots at Texas, but they are not the core problem as Mears says.

I don't think it's the case at all really, yes there were some stupid moves, but with an aero package like that, it's pretty much a lottery.
You're getting a tow on the other guy, not having anywhere to go, if you spend 100% of your time around other cars, mistakes are going to be made no matter if you're a champion or a rookie

Considering the amount of cars that had damage and the relitive experience levels involved, it has to point to a series wide problem and blaming the drivers is looking for a scapegoat for someone who likes the aero package because that sort of driving is literally the only thing that plays to his "strengths"
(he can hold a throttle flat and block around the inside, that's all his career has been) instead of discussing the actual problem

It was a combination of factors, not one or another. Carpenter is right, some drivers were very poorly behaved at Texas. The package Indycar brought to that track wasn't correct and created the style of racing (and driving standards) we saw. End of story.

I would say only a couple of them to be honest.
The problem is, one driver behaving badly in particular (Kanaan) in this style of racing can wipe out nearly half the field.

Yeah, Texas was a surprisingly poor race for a guy like Kanaan, with all his experience. Maybe he's losing it?

Saavedra replaces Aleshin in Toronto. No one is saying why.
