Blink & you'll miss Arie Luyendyk blistering the Brickyard in 1990.

New Hampshire 1993 was one of my earliest tastes of Indycar. Somebody bought me a VHS at Christmas that year called 'Nigel Mansell's Indycar Diary', and it followed him around the 1993 season. That one in particularly was a fantastic race.

Just been watching the 1992 Indy 500. Very well known, but the finish is still exciting to watch.

Which year was the Road America race with the river running across the backstraight? That one came into my head recently.

2001. That was a wild one. Max Wilson went flying over Bryan Herta on the backstretch, and Memo Gidley had that monster crash under the turn 13 bridge.

It might be just down to nostalgia and the fact that 2000 was the first year I watched CART religiously, but this is still one of my favourite races of all time in any series

Best TV coverage ever IMO:

Economaki, Squier, Rutherford, Hobbs, Joy. Don't get a better TV line-up than that.

It was largely because the then-new Honda engine was awful & underpowered on the speedways.

Boy, did things change for the Honda camp within a year...and after that.

With all the knee-jerks going on in 2015, what would have happened with this race if it was run today?
