But that's like putting on two British Grand Prix's on the same weekend, one at Silverstone and one at Croft.

Mid-September would have had much more sense.

I just don't think it would affect the 500 in any way. It's just too big of a race.

People loves to complain sometimes.

Just a race.

With the spec series we have now, there's no need for a full month of may in the oval. No one needs to try anything new anymore.

True, it's almost like a sim racing series.

You don't go all the way to Disneyland and ride the same shitty teacups that your local fair brings to your hometown every holiday...

Likewise you don't go to the fabled and historic Indianapolis motor speedway to run a frickin Roval that Moto GP has a hard time passing on, let alone a 4 wheeled machine. *sigh*

I'm also frustrated that those in Indycar will also say "see, we've added another precious road course to further sway the RC/Oval ratio. Better hold off going to Road America or Laguna Seca because now there'll be too many road courses!"

One less Road Course date that could be taken up by a decent road course.

Big fail all round.

So they don't run Road America or COTA but they run Indy Road Course? Strange.

I wonder how much influence Tony George had on that decision. Probably none, but it wouldn't be surprising if he insisted on it.

That may be true. Thing is, this idea has "money pit" written all over it. I doubt that people would go to this one if they feel like they need to "pick-and-choose" which race they want to go.

It would have made a lot more financial sense if the race is held around this time, but not on May.

What a shame. Seems that indycar has more fear of football than from the indy 500. I cant imagine why they would schedule it in may rather than in autumn for another reason.

One and done. This will fail so badly they'll dump it.

Can we please have Randy back? Walker's dealing with the teams so Randy wouldn't need to do that which was one of the problems that lead to his getting shit canned.

Add Michigan, Phoenix, Road America and COTA. Keep Indy for the 500 alone. Proceed with the long term plan of breaking Indy's track record. Done. How is this a bad plan?

Excellent news for TK. So will that be in a fourth car or will he be replacing someone?

Izod's former Marketing Cheif was a huge racing fan with a keen interest in IndyCar. He saw the street course racing with other attractions like concerts and what not as a decent enough deal to involve the company with. With him gone they are now solely focusing on golf as far as sports marketing is concerned.

This has also been widely known for over a year now so if Indycar turn up without a title sponsor when they leave then you know things aren't right. IE they've tried really hard and no-one was interested... :(
