This is a surprise wow.

Honestly? Hell yeah though. This is a good thing imo. A really, really good thing.

So, in a twisted sort of way, CART won the war after all.

David Land talked about building a casino inside IMS. Is Speedway, IN exempt from gambling laws exempt from Indiana gambling laws?

Sports betting laws have recently changed in Indiana - which IMS lobbied hard for

Can't remember exactly details but it legalized some stuff

Hope IMS could stage more racing

The other stuff might be legal, honestly not sure

All I know is the sports betting got opened up, partly thanks to the Draft Kings / FanDuel boom

IMS is used quite alot now, besides the big one - they got the GP, BY 400 & the BC 39, SRO 8 Hour (new for 2020), MotoAmerica (returning), SVRA / Trans Am weekend

They also had a karting weekend but not sure it returns

Don't ask me how to explain it, but maybe something like this could be done with Indycars instead:

not related to the series itself, but inter-tied regardless:

the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has announced the Indy Autonomous Challenge - to take place on October 23rd, 2021 & will have a $1 million USD prize

teams from various colleges will compete, all teams will use a Dallara Indy Lights chassis

Can't believe I'm saying this, but Tony George might've just redeemed himself. Hell knows what Liberty Media would've done with Indycar.

Certainly would have created some sort of a conflict of interest with F1.

Another video. Looks good from the side but so bulky from ahead.

I like it as a backup for crappy weather, but I think they should still do all they can to make sure the 500 is run during daylight. Like, even if it rains on Sunday, at least wait until Monday before considering using the lights.

Also, it might be kind of neat to have a sort of IndyCar All-Star race at night if they do light the place. Top ten drivers, 25 laps. Could be fun.

If they do lights, I think the main purpose would be other races like the Brickyard, endurance sports car races, maybe F1 and other events like concerts.

It wouldn't be the first night race at IMS though, as USAC beat them to the punch 2 years ago with the BC39 at the dirt track :flag:
