YYYY-MM-DD for crying out loud (Not against you racer612008, but against the whole world, and that one guy in my current project who names computer files using DD-MM-YYYY like a freacking caveman with a brain disease).

I get confused as all get out when that format is used, but I don't whine about it. Lol. racer612008 uses the format that I'm accustomed to.

MM-DD-YYYY pls.

That is the worst argument in favour of that date system that I've ever heard, but to each their own. There's an official international format to avoid confusion in formal settings, and in everyday life we just drunkenly specify day and month in any order or talk in weekdays anyway.

Main thing with YYYY-MM-DD is that it is the ISO 8601 standard. Thus it's the only format that you can enter into computers and pretty much guarantee that it is understood universally.

Most of Europe and the rest of the world use a form of DD-MM-YYYY typically. Of course, within this "most of the world", there's also lots of little variations such as using dashes, slashes, or periods between the numbers, just to make things non-trivial for us programmers.

Main thing to realize is that something like "12/02/2017" could be interpreted as Februrary 12th by most countries, not December 2nd as the Americans would. I've kind of defaulted to ISO date shorthand when communicating internationally just to make it obvious what date is what.

If they can improve the top speed with more batteries to over 300 km/h, then it will become F1 eventually.

they should be more powerful, have slick tyres. And race on wider tracks.

That's obviously not happening very quickly without much more open development.

And I'm not sure the manufacturers want that since the big reason for joining FE is how at this point FE is relatively cheap (I saw Renault's budget somewhere, <25M or something) with excellent marketing ROI.

They need more races

Everyone is confusing what Formula E is now, with what these manufacturers are going to push it towards in the future

Porsche didn't come in half heartedly, they bought up a battery manufacturing company in advance of their arrival, in the future pretty much everything that isn't the chassis is going to be developed by the teams

The speeds will increase, the life of the batteries will increase.
We just have to be patient.

Indeed, it will get faster every year and battery life will improve. Much more fascinating to follow this development than the technology in F1 imo. Not sure why so many people want them to race on normal tracks, they're not getting the point of this series. When they become faster they might visit some traditional circuits eventually, but the core will be city centers because for now that is what electric cars are for. When they want to market the longevity of the battery life in a few years (make that 10 years) they'll probably seek out some longer tracks with more elevation. See, you can now make road trips with electric cars will be the commercial message then

That reads like a press release... This has more to do with just trying to attact new audiences (young and people living in cities), but the selection of circuits has more to do with the current and near future cars simply being too slow for normal circuits. They don't even use normal configurations of the street circuits when available for the same reason. For permanent circuits the cars don't need to be F1-fast, but roughly as fast as the next fastest single-seater categories.

They'll probably still go to shorter layouts on existing racetracks even if they did visit established circuits

Electric racing is all about torque as you put the throttle down and less about top speed atm
There'd be no point them going to spa and being on full throttle from La Source through eau rouge and up through the kemmel straight for 40 seconds, they'd probably be toasting their batteries.

There will be massive investùent in this series, because the good'old argument "top racing series allow technology to be developped for future use in road cars", no longer applicable to F1 except by poorly informed blindfolded fans in lack of pro-F1 arguments, actually applies here.

Batteries that don't overheat, and deliver max power over longer stints, is a perfect R&D playground to increase autonomy, performance and reliability of electric road cars.
