So this means we are going to have a real life Mario Kart with drivers getting crazy stars and turtle shells or banana skins or whatever to disrupt the competitors?

From tests last week. Looks a bit more rudimentary than in the renders.

Looks a lot better with a livery than without.
The wheel guards are fucking unnecessary but that's the way motorsport is heading.

Mark my words, once F1 is done with the next generation halo or whatever they're looking at next, they'll be working on wheel guards of their own within 5 years
Hell, the next wheel to wheel contact flip will probably spark that off, regardless that the driver will probably pop out fine after about 30 seconds of trying to struggle out of an upside down car because the halo made it a hell of a lot harder.
No, it'll be the wheel guards that will be the solution to that.

I'm not sure the reason in FE is so much safety rather than the needed reduction of drag.

It kind of reminds me of some of the car designs from the PS2 game Downforce. I don't remember the game been especially good but I thought some of the car designs were pretty cool & futuristic looking at the time.

The race format for season five, which we haven't disclosed yet, is going to be something closer to a video game and will blow the mind of the younger generation. It's almost a race format designed for them.

It's going to be blue shells isn't it :8:

the cars are looking good, next thing will create a push to pass that will be recharged in selected points of the track via wireless recharging, just like F-Zero

The new Formula E was exposed at the Paris E-prix and I confirm it looks much better on these pictures with good liveries.
I was afraid we would lose the open-wheel look but from behind it still looks decent. I'll take it, but I hope that when batteries become more durable and efficient we can still have a full open-wheel electric series even if aerodynamics dictate to cover the wheels for drag efficiency.

You can't tell me it makes it any easier or is even 100% the same as without.
That's False. It depends entirely on how the car lands

That doesn't even remotely back up a statement like "30 seconds of trying to struggle out of an upside down car because the halo made it a hell of a lot harder." Is any change to F1 car dimensions now open to dramatic and spurious statements about safety, just because somebody can't tell you it's 100% the same as it was before?

Felipe Massa will be driving for Venturi...

Quote:
Former Sauber, Ferrari and Williams Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa will join the Venturi Formula E team from the 2018/19 season.
Massa, who won 11 grands prix during his 16-year career in F1, has previously tested for the Jaguar FE squad and recently visited the electric series at its inaugural event in Rome.

What's wrong with Riyadh?

Same thing that's wrong with any major race in the Gulf states. No fans, no real interest, and the only reason the race is happening because the state probably pays multiple times higher license fee. Super boring circuit with nice VIP facitities.

And oh yeah, and of course "don't mix sports and politics". Except that the mixing starts the second an event is decided to be held somewhere.

Could this actually be part of their PR plot...

“We have of course received complete assurances – actually it has been the request of the Saudi authorities – that women participate in the Formula E event. And if they are not in a racing team we will organise some way for women to drive around the track which is really the intention of the new years of Saudi Arabia to showcase that change.” (Agag)

Formula E should race at least once at Enna Pergusa just to see what is to drive in a proper racetrack

There will probably be 100's or 1000's of Saudi Arabians who will attend who have never seen a motorsport event live, who cares if the organisers are paying overs for hosting rights?

Saudi Arabia has started to become a very progressive nation, unlike others in the Middle East, as your post about female drivers states.

It's Formula E, not Formula 1, major cities aren't exactly climbing over each other for hosting rights, so its inevitable that smaller major cities will get races.

Who says the circuit will be boring too?

Aren't they all/mostly street circuits in F-E?

Hello! We have UAE and Bahrain on F1 calendar already. And we'd have Qatar too only for Bahrain which blocked it. F1 season finale in Dubai is as soulless as it can ever be.
