Lowndes' car for Sandown.

while the article doesn't state that the car was based on anything, it's similar to Colin Bond's #8 Caltex Sierra from 1992 (main difference being the design on the front bumper)

The 17 just needs the door numbers to be perfect.

Goddamn that scheme was so good.

DJR has been king of the throwbacks.

Winton will remain on the calendar for 2017, and possibly until 2019.

I don't visit this thread often. Is the throwback thing something that all the teams are taking part in? Some kind of special event?

Quote:
2016 will be the 47th time Sandown Raceway will host an Australian Touring Car/Supercars event – the most of any venue.

Supercars will be celebrating this by promoting the 2016 Wilson Security Sandown 500 as a ‘Retro Round’, with a view to bringing back the look and feel of the touring car eras of the 60s, 70s and 80s.

Supercars teams and sponsors are supporting this initiative through activating historic car liveries, retro team uniforms and one-off merchandising opportunities. Make sure to come down and check it all out!

They're having a retro round, not celebrating anything, just doing it for the sake of doing it.

This is an awesome idea that should be done in all series tbh.

Almost tempted to wind out the colour on the TV this weekend, great set of liveries this year. Hope we get a wet race in there somewhere to spice it up.

Kinda unrelated, but my absolute favorite part of the two big enduros is that they're both 161 laps.

Lol yeah, that's racing in Asia, where you can't trust a schedule until the cars are physically on the track. It's an organisational nightmare in that part of the world so I'm not surprised at the difficulty of getting something set in stone.

I'm sure this happens every time the promoter receives the quote for freighting.

Strange decision. Either add the Dunlop series to the main race as a seperate class, or don't and leave the race as it is.
