On top of that, next gen engine development for the Holden has been sent offshore to America which is a shame considering there expertise and experience for it to be done locally.

It looks like the VASC will be heading to Indonesia and Thailand next year. It seems pretty much certain judging by this article that we'll also lose one Australian round (probably in Victoria). It's also been confirmed that there won't be a return to Kuala Lumpur in 2017:

Shame if Winton looses it's date. Rather see a 2nd NZ date at Highlands than a street race in Thailand TBH (inb4 canceled too)

still wish they would give the US a proper second chance for a race too. And not at CoTA either, considering anything that isn't F1/MotoGP/WEC is a flop there.

Asia is a good idea imo, the circuits are also pretty decent. Drawing crowds won't be easy though.
