Big damage to the front of Heimgartner's car. He smashed into the back of another car entering the pits (like SVG at NZ last year)

The order is now Whincup, SVG and Pye with McLaughlin all the way back in 8th.

Whincup wins, SVG and Reynolds 2nd and 3rd. McLaughlin salvaged a 10th after a difficult weekend for DJRTP. That was another fairly dull race, there just wasn't much competition at the front.

It's going to be interesting to see if T888 can maintain the advantage they seem to have at the moment at Sandown. I get the suspicion that Penske have had to divert resources to the Mustang development and have fallen behind T888 as a result.

Please no, I rather not see VASC get destroyed by a mountain of bad decisions & gimmicks just to copy the US based product

if anything, NASCAR needs to just copy what VASC are doing in terms of race & championship format, race weekend schedules (most of the non crown jewels as 2 or 3 race weekends), rules packages (but with more horsepower) etc.

Some Ford news for the day.

DJR Penske's retro livery. So simple (but so sexy)

In support category news, some flying bricks will be finally be making their debut in the TCM as expected.

Sandown's had some safety upgrades completed. This is apparently part of a plan to keep the track open for the next couple of years and past then.

A couple more retro liveries have been unveiled.

Erebus are running a tribute to 1986 Bathurst winners Graeme Bailey and Allan Grice, with Reynolds/Youlden sporting their race winning livery and de Pasquale/Will Brown sporting one of Bailey's earlier ones.

Holdsworth and Bright will be running the livery of the inaugural Holden Bathurst winner from 1968.

GRM's got some stunning liveries for Sandown. Both of them replicate some of Garry's earlier Bathurst entries, the #33 being modelled after the Torana that he raced in 1978 and the #34 being modelled after his 1983 race Commodore.

Two of BJR's new liveries. #14 is a throwback to a Bob Jane Monaro while the bottom one isn't a throwback but it's not bad looking regardless.

Here we have the schedule for this weekend's activities.

https://www.supercars.com/2018-rabble-club-sandown-500-schedule-results/

http://www.bom.gov.au/vic/forecasts/melbourne.shtml

As it stands it looks like there may be a storm with hail on Saturday, which could interfere with the qualifying races. That must be making the team bosses and lead drivers a bit nervous.

Put together a Imgur album with all of the paint liveries announced for Sandown so far. This includes the non-throwback paint liveries as well as for the support series. Will try to update it some more but all bets are off in terms of if I can after Thursday night / Friday
