That is great news. Such a shame about WIX leaving though.

EDIT - Having just read the btcc.net article, they're going to take Knickerbrook as it was originally intended, with NO CHICANE. :D

Missing out the Hislops chicane? The proper Knickerbrook? Yes please!

Where does it say that in the article? I've read it over a few times and don't see that. It would be great if indeed true.

I think they've changed the article. It was definitely mentioned. Maybe they got the wrong end of the stick

RAR have lost Wix this morning and Ciceley have picked them up this afternoon.

Wish it was that easy in lower formula.

I wouldn't have thought Ciceley would be in need of a sponsor, but you can never have too much funding can you?

Maybe it's the Foulston's Chicane they're going to miss out (think it's called Hissy's or something now)?, afak the circuit doesn't have a license to use Knickerbrook without the chicane unless they're using the Club layout.

Foulston's/Britten's = Chicane 1
Knickerbrook/Hizzy's/Hislop's = Chicane 2

I'm loving how strong the BTCC is at the moment. All of this news being announced and it's not even 2014 yet!

It makes more sense to skip Foulston's chicane but use Hislops. Foulston's isn't really an overtaking spot for touring cars (hasn't been in the past).

They're using the full circuit again as they have gained permission from the Nimbys to run out there on a Sunday ..
(Oulton is only allowed so many days a year and racedays are usually Saturdays only, with the odd exception) but I'm really looking forward to seeing them there, great place for photos..
As pointed out, they only use old knickerbrook with the short circuit

Was gonna say, without knickerbrook that'd make druids a hell of a scary corner since they'd be full throttle for a good long while before it!
It's bad enough now.

I'm curious to see how this shapes out. Interesting how it flies right in the face of Alan Gow's "must use shorter circuits" wishes.
Maybe they'll start alternating it?

And no doubt the island section, and Shell corner in particular, is a fantastic bit of racetrack.
However all I can think of is we're losing one of the best overtaking spots on the track, so much drama has happened there over the years.

Oh well, it's not like the Park is short of a few overtaking opportunities ;)

*edit* Statement on Oulton's website confirms BOTH chicanes will be in use:

Quote:
Next season's Oulton Park round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship on 7/8 June will take place on the International circuit, after several years of racing on the Island layout.

Britain's biggest car racing championship has raced on a variety of layouts at the Cheshire circuit throughout its 55-year history. The 2.69 mile International circuit was last used by the series in 1996, with the 1.66 mile Fosters loop taking over for the next three years.

The 2.26 mile Island circuit has been in use since 1999, but for 2014 the drivers will ignore the Island hairpin, taking the left-hand Island bend instead, before the banked Shell Oils corner. They will tackle Britten's chicane before heading over the crest into Hislop's chicane and Knickerbrook. The layout can be viewed by clicking here.

The BTCC recently announced that it fully expects to see a full grid in 2014, and the sight of 32 cars on the run to the Shell Oils hairpin is sure to be thrilling!

Tickets for Oulton Park's round of the 2014 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season are available at 2013 prices if ordered before Christmas. Click here for more details and here for details of 2014 season passes, which are also available at a special price if ordered before Christmas.
