If that was the case then laps wouldn’t get added following SC situations. Like I said, it’s counterintuitive.

But remember you save fuel under the SC and they use a lot on the formation lap. They fill the cars so that they can manage to do the ultimate number of race laps. With this race, they are still only doing the number of laps they were going to do anyway, so havent lost anything. Or something

That’s the point @

and I are making. We get that it’s fuel related, yet instead of reducing the laps the procedure should be the same as under the SC. Otherwise it makes no sense. Essentially they’re doing the original distance but only after 2 laps were taken off then replaced once the SC was deployed.

Haven't the foggiest then, im sure there is a good reason

It's quite simple. The maximum number of laps is 22 (out lap, formation lap, race plus SC laps and cool down lap). The cars are fuelled based on this number, so any additional formation laps are deducted from the race. This is true for every series that I know of that uses European style rules.

The second delayed start was totally unnecessary. They should have waited for Collard's car to be cleared before starting another formation lap.

The Clio race and second BTCC race were the best in my view.

But why not do race plus SC/extra formation laps? Still a maximum of 3 so you don't go over the 22 limit, so today you'd have added 2 laps for the extra formation laps then 1 for the SC. This way you don't get a shortened race if the SC doesn't happen to come out.

A simpler way of putting it is that for every extra formation lap, you take 1 away from the maximum allowed SC laps.

Would make sense wouldn't it. Mind you, F1 would take a lap off even when they still had refuelling.

Pretty sure ITV are the factors here, every minute they go past their allotted broadcast window will cost TOCA thousands upon thousands.

It might look like they were only going back to a 70th repeat of Minder or whatever, but that's not precious satellite time,

I don't think so, unless their attitude has changed. They gave plenty of extra TV time to last year's Donington meeting.

Possibly a track curfew.

Something that happened yesterday that hasn't been mentioned in the thread is Chilton's interview after the first lap incident in race 3. He stated that Simpson used him as a brake and that he hit him so hard that he felt like it was a "Playstation move". So let's ignore the fact that he (and many others) did exactly the same thing as you eh, Tom? Such a delusional, spoilt brat who's incapable of recognising his own shortcomings. What a loser.

Wait, is that moron claiming Simpson spun him out?

He wasn't saying that he spun him. But he did think the contact was Simpson's fault. Of course, if Chilton hadn't have gone off in the first place, there probably wouldn't have been any contact at all.

That just makes his comment even stupider. Chilton had got a pretty good gap, he'd have been well ahead of all that had he not gone off.

Hang on, didn’t Chilton have a good 20+ yard gap going into the hairpin before he lost the back end? How the hell is that Simpsons’ fault?
