Depper hasn't been able to make it back in time:

On a completely off-topic note, I noticed this post on the official forum. Pot & Kettle, eh?:

Couldn't Depper get an internal flight up to Boston?

It's such a retarded way that it's happened as well. UNIQ pulled sponsorship not because they weren't getting enough of a return but because they got too much attention after Thruxton, with the representative being interviewed on ITV as well as the two race wins and the title lead. So the senior people in America shat themselves at the sheer level of interest in their product and did not renew the 888 contract whilst they figured out how they could market themselves best.

The upshot of this is that both Gio and Glew could be back fairly quickly, but it's a pain in the arse right now.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Pretty much the lamest reason for terminating a sponsorship ever...

"Oh, oh, we got too MUCH exposure for our money, waa waa, we're running away and hiding!"

Either that or they only ever were intending to sponsor for Thruxton and they're just making excuses now when they ended up doing better than expected...

Still, we've got 2 more BMW's this round for the team that couldn't make Thruxton so I guess the grid numbers are going to remain largely the same...

Wasn't there a team who couldn't make Thruxton because their engines were being rebuilt and couldn't be sent back to the team in time...

I dunno I don't have as much time to follow the news of every single series as much these days, but I'm sure I remember reading something like that, probably here :p

*Goes to check BTCC news thread*

Yeh, it was Depper's team who couldnt make it as their engines were being sent to Germany for a rebuilt (which is about 2 weeks) so couldnt get them back in time, so were making their debut at Rockingham.

Here's an idea. There is a spare (funded) BMW as Depper is stuck in the US, plus Glew is now free. Surely Glew's management can make a phone call to Forster?

Yeaa, driving for nothing is a darn sight better than sitting around. Surely someone could have offered up their services for one round.

So why did they decide to sponsor the cars at all? Surely before signing the contracts someone had worked out the plan for the season if the team did well or not? Something doesn't add up.

God knows.

But that's what Autosport are saying, and 888 aren't refuting it, so...

Literally the first time I've heard of a sponsor pulling out because they got too much exposure.

I know, its ridiculous. Glew + Giovanardi are two very good drivers :( At least we have Nash I suppose, but thats a bit like finding a penny and losing a pound

Some big grids in the support races this weekend. Nice to see the Golf isn't last in the first BTCC practice.
