Not a fan of the soft/medium compounds. Need to go back to a single compound.

The first two races were good, race three not so much. The Honda pair just sat and waited for the soft tyres to go off. They didn't put up a fight in race one and picked off places in race two. But that's what wins championships and this one they will walk.

Another great performance from Jeff Smith, what has got into him this season? Tom Ingram seems to be win it or bin it. He needs to learn there are three races per weekend. Not one.

The third BTCC race wasn't good, most of the overtakes were artificial due to the tyres. I've had the opinion that multiple compounds add nothing to the racing for a few years and yesterday proved it.

It was funny how Neate leaving was only briefly mentioned in passing. You'd think that the best team in the series reducing their entry from 3 cars to 2 would be a big story. Shows you how insignificant of a loss he is to the championship. Or maybe Gow asked people not to talk about it?

Dan Cammish won both of the Porsche races at Silverstone (surprise, surprise). Unfortunately, Salih Yoluc (banned twice from British GT last year) is still allowed to have a racing licence and he showed his shittiness 3 times across the two races.

Ding.

The rumour I saw flying around was that Neate failed to pay for his ToCA licence. Apparently Autosport's original article on the story included a line about the Administrators (of the BTCC) no longer accepting any entries associated with Neate.

Neate's LinkedIn also states he left Ceravision (who bankrolled his previous drives) last month.

I have a little bit of sympathy for him in general - lots of Twitter innuendo (see Ian Harrison in particular) about how difficult he was, and his racecraft was lacking, and he was clearly there because he brought money only, but the last of these is not a crime (tangentially, I will never understand why people get so worked up about people buying rides in a national touring car series), and the first two could be relics of his Britcar accident; I don't know if he was as difficult to work with before or as inattentive on the racetrack.

Agree with others that race 3 was ruined by the soft tyre. I think perhaps today was exceptional as the soft tyre was especially poor but I don't think the racing would suffer from going back to one compound, the success ballast and reverse grids provide sufficient factors to make the racing more exciting.

Ingram definitely needs to start thinking about the weekend rather than individual positions, that's the second weekend he's ruined by being too aggressive. Up to the point when he put himself in a position to be forced off at the chicane, his lap long battle with Goff in race 2 was one of my favourite moments of the weekend's racing.

I don't think people had so much trouble with him being a pay driver as such (guys like John George were always quite popular despite being slow and occasionally making mistakes that would hinder the "pros") it was more his attitude at the track and that he caused soooo many avoidable accidents. Alex Martin seems to be a mini-Neate in a way.

anyone else think this is one of the most colorful grids in recent years?

the bottom third of the field seem to be good for nothing except running into each other
