Hey I.F., remember you posted this video a whileback: Quote:
I've got an ID for it: 1999 - North West 200 - Mobil 1 Superbike Race 1 - Mark Perry and Paul Coward It's the second wave of riders, hence the higher numbers on their bikes. Here's a list of all the people I could identify: #68 - Phil Stewart - Honda CBR900 #57 - John Caffrey - Yamaha R1 #52 - Ronnie McAllister - Yamaha R1 #29 - Alan Bezzant - Kawasaki ZX-9R #41 - Callum Ramsey? #49 - Neil Jones - Honda CBR900 #35 - Michael King - Yamaha R6 #46 - Rob L'Anson - Suzuki GSX-R1000 #26 - Alex Donaldson - Kawasaki ZX-7R #40 - Bruce Telford - Yamaha YZF600 #58 - Noel Hudson? #62 - Anita Buxton - Kawasaki ZX-6R #71 - Davy Morgan - Yamaha R1 #66 - Kevin Shepherd - Kawasaki ZX-7R #33 - Nigel Healey - Yamaha R6 #61 - Chris Reilly - Honda CBR900 #15 - Dave Madsen-Mygal - Honda CBR750 #39 - Craig Shiriffs - Yamaha YZF600 |

I captured this crash from the show "Ausser Kontrolle" and they showed this episode in the beginning of 1999!!! I have the entry lists for all the races in the 90s, and the 99 race is the only one that matches with the numbers and bikes. The North West 200 is usually early in the year. I'll have another look at the entry lists though. The sheer number of Honda RVFs would suggest 1997, but there appear to be a few Yamaha R1s, a bike that came out in late 1998. |

If anybody's interested in the history of the World Superbike Championship from 1990 to 1999, I've come a long way with my website. So far there are complete championship results for all those seasons, videos for 1998 and 1999, entry lists for each race from 1997 and 1999 and a full race report from Jerez 1990. www.wsb-archives.co.uk |

Post subject: | Re: Examples of great sportsmanship |
1989 - 250cc GP at Hockenheim - A first lap pile up takes out several riders, with Ivan Palazzese severely injured and lying on the track. Virginio Ferrari sees him, stops his own bike and runs over to help Palazzese, then assists the marshals with the recovery and CPR. Unfortunately Palazzese died as a result of the crash. 1994 -World Superbikes at Misano - After an oil spill takes out several riders and the marshals do nothing, Stephane Mertens (who crashed on the oil) grabs the bucket of cement dust and spreads it over where the oil is, then stands by the track holding the oil flag. 2004 - World Superbikes at Imola - Chris Vermeulen highsides on the warm-up lap and destroys his bike, so Giovanni Bussei stops and gives him a lift back to the pits to get his spare bike in time for the start. |

Remember Rossi carrying the blow-up doll around on the slow-down lap in 97? Biaggi wasn't too pleased then. |
