That 'Factory 2' class sounds silly. First they encourage Open entries by giving them advantages and now all of a sudden they're saying: "by the way, Open class bikes aren't meant to win"? I was already hoping that in the long run all entries would be Open class but Dorna is sending mixed signals here, they're now effectively saying that the Open class is meant to stay as a "second tier". Their backpedaling reeks of Honda pressure IMO.

(Not to mention changing the class rules 2-3 weeks before the start of the season is crazy in itself.)

seems like punishing a team for getting good results to me, yes was a bit of a loophole for Ducati to get some extra performance, but it was within the rules and they were allowed to do it Honda and Yamaha had to same option but didn't want the Spec ECU so if they get beaten that's they're fault and they know how to fix it... Now Ducati agreed to a set of rules and have had the rug pulled from under them if they do well.
Maybe it's worth the development freedom to slow from a 3rd to a 4th this year and take the dev forward to next year instead.
Just seems like Dorna bowing down to HRC's complaint that the Open "Factory" Ducati decision was "not within the spirit of the rules"

I say all this as a Yam+Honda fan BTW but it's causing the series to suffer :(

Yamaha and Honda got 100% podiums in 2013 looks like that will continue in 2014

Well at least there's an agreement to show highlights of the 2014 MotoGP season on ITV4
