It's race day for the Senior TT - the weather is looking pretty good for now

Racing begins at 10:00AM local time as long as there's no delays. The start time was moved up due to the incoming weather that's expected to bring tons of rain to the region.

Pardon a stupid question, but can the TT survive multiple years being cancelled? I'm not familiar with it's history like I am that of the Indy 500, which of course was able to survive shutting down during the war years, narrowly.

It can, the problem is more the local economy that relies on it. Will definitely be back for 2022.

What? Why can 2021 already? The race is 7 months away with Vaccine approvals being requested in Europe this week if they haven't already done so.

I guess a lot of planning is required and the build-up is enormous.

Am I missing the joke?

I mean, I know the approvals are being asked for and that distribution is looking to be a bit more of a headache than most think. I mean, I understand canceling the race early because it takes a lot of time to set up everything for it and even with a Covid Vaccine possibly by Christmas, widespread inoculations are going to be on the order of months to implement (especially since it's a two dose job with 3-4 weeks between doses) so you have to figure May at best to have a reasonable amount of people vaccinated, but still... Bit early no?

Economy might have more to do with it than the health risks. I imagine sponsors aren't that easy to come by right now.
