Lorenzo could be on for a pole at Misano, he's been faster than Marquez throughout wet and dry practice.

The thought of Rossi winning in Italy is unbearably exciting. Oh to be there.

Great to see Vale back on top today. A pretty convincing performance, leaving Lorenzo in the dust and forcing Marquez into a mistake. I'd say the old man has still got it, but I'm the same age as Vale!

Redding's 2015 has been sorted. He's got his works Honda and has signed for Marc VDS. It will be intriguing to see how they cope with their step up to MotoGP from being so dominant in Moto2 these past years. Also great to have another new team joining the top tier. MotoGP's recovery in the past couple of years has been good.

Love the Marc VDS team. They have been successful in every class they have entered (GT1, Blancpain, Moto2). Hope that they can become a regular in Motogp. And with a factory Honda and Reddding that might work out.

They've proved they can perform at each level (and type of series) they have entered, so good luck to them. Redding is definitely a star of the future.

Looking back over the last few years of MotoGP, the recovery of the series and entry from new teams either straight into MotoGP or moving up from the ladder series has been fantastic. When the CRT formula was announced ahead of the 2012 season there was a lot of criticism from riders, some teams and many fans that production based machinery was not what MotoGP was about (everyone is a history major, but clearly they don't know the series all too well...). Whereas everyone else could see this was a way to revive the health of the series. And that has been the case. Give teams an easier and cheaper way into the series that allows them to develop the bike and understanding of the championship. Performance will come given time and experience. Forward Racing is one of the great success stories of CRT.

In 2011 there were 10 MotoGP teams, fielding 17 (near) full time riders.
In 2012 there were 8 MotoGP teams, fielding 12 (near) full time riders. There were 7 CRT teams, fielding 9 (near) full time riders.
In 2014 there are now 7 MotoGP teams, fielding 12 full time riders. There are now 7 OPEN teams, fielding 11 full time riders.
In 2015 there are already 9 MotoGP teams entered, expected to field 16 full time riders. With 5 OPEN teams penciled in, with a further 8 full time riders.

In addition, one of the successes of opening up the formula to allow production parts is reducing cost and making the series more attractive again to manufacturers. Without CRT / OPEN, then arguably Ducati may have disappeared by now. We are also seeing Aprilia and Suzuki returning. The former having been a mainstay of CRT / OPEN as an engine supplier since 2012.

In 2011 - 4 manufacturers in MotoGP.
In 2012 - 3 manufacturers in MotoGP, 5 engine manufacturers in CRT.
In 2014 - 3 manufacturers in MotoGP, 5 engine manufacturers in OPEN.
In 2015 - 5 manufacturers in MotoGP, 3 engine manufacturers in OPEN.

Yeah I was critical at the CRT class in 2012. But we will most likely have the most healthiest grid from this millennium in 2015. Gotta give some credit to Dorna for that.

Although it looks like it will come at a cost for WSBK, since Aprilia will most likely pull out next season.
