Had to go to Owensboro today for a doctor's appointment, and I decided to drive by the Hayden's Owensboro Walk of Fame plaque on the riverfront. Traffic was backed up for at least 10 blocks until cops started directing mourners to the Allen St. parking garage next to the Riverpark Center. It was a madhouse I didn't really expect. No doubt a few of the people there had no clue what Nicky meant to the rest of the world (or other than he was from Owensboro), but a vast majority were donning Hayden gear and leaving flowers and trinkets next to the plaque. All of the flags were at half mast. It was a really somber scene, but glorious to see the outpouring of support from such a loyal and proud community

I knew he was in an accident but I just saw this.

Nicky was a real racer, one of the best to come from the US in recent memory for any kind of discipline. :(
