That was the classic Lorenzo time trial, on a Ducati

Is anyone else fed up with Dorna's continued mid 1980's level of TV coverage? The first few laps seemed like an absolute crash fest with 6? riders down and no replays whatsoever. Are they reverting to the old standard of if it aint shown live then it aint recorded? This has been the way they have operated for years and Mugello just pissed me off massively.

I don't have access to their website premium pass but are they saving these unseen crash videos for that? Like how F1 did for their yearly review disc.

The silly season can begin, as it is confirmed today that Pedrosa will not have a new contract for 2019. And ofcourse Lorenzo has also confirmed that he will leave Ducati.

According to a very recent Autosport.com article, Lorenzo has agreed to join Repsol Honda for 2019 and 2020 seasons. The agreement between the two parties was made prior to his victory at Mugello.

I didn't see that coming.

Petrucci to Ducati is no surprise.

Lorenzo on a Honda. Could be boring.

But each year I was surprised that they gave Pedrosa another go. He has been underperforming for a long time.

Marquez has made the Honda look far better than it is the last few years. I expect he'll beat Lorenzo pretty soundly, Jorge will blame the bike, and in 2 years he'll be out of a ride.

I've never been into motorcycle racing, but just finished watching the current season and really enjoyed it!

Interesting article about why a reshaped tank casing makes so much difference to Lorenzo: https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/opin ... zo-winning

Loved this bit:

Quote:
If this sounds a bit pathetic, consider this: when a mortal gets to use carbon brakes it’s easy to get caught out by their vicious stopping power. This has happened to me a couple of times, once while testing Mick Doohan’s Honda NSR500 at Catalunya sometime in the 1990s. When I braked for Turn 9 I experienced the weird kind of weightlessness that astronauts feel in space: my backside lifted off the seat and my whole body was thrown over the front of the bike, so I was looking at Doohan’s number-one plate, upside down. I was all set for the biggest crash of my life, but somehow I was still holding the handlebars and when I let go of the front brake, the g-force disappeared and I landed back on the seat.

I learned from that bowel-loosening moment that whenever you hit the brakes with carbons brakes (carbon-carbons, to name them correctly) you must dig the soles of your boots deep into the footpegs and grip the tank with your thighs like you’re riding a bucking bronco, simply to resist the g-forces trying to hurl you forward. That was probably 20 years ago, so you can imagine the power of today’s MotoGP brakes.

Kinda reminds me of a Skip Barber race on iRacing on a draft track. Marquez should be walking away on paper.
