I taped that and just watched. I'm sure I've seen a crazier race, but it's been a while. Ridiculous start, Marquez NR2K3 start, a great race, more Marquez stupidity, more great racing, more stupidity, then a great finish.

Good lord. So glad we bought the package to get BEINSports so I get MotoGP again.

Well, so now we're going to dispute which is a proper manner to remove a guy out of the way? Rossi's comments tell me he's simply gotten old and forgotten how agressive he was back in the day. This is Biaggi vs Rossi all over again only now Rossi's the one with ruffled feathers.

My MotoGP history must be a bit rusty; can you clarify which race it was that Rossi acted like a 1 person wrecking ball against multiple competitors, then literally wrecked Biaggi?

Yes this.

Rossi v Gibernau at Jerez in 2005 is not comparable as Rossi lunged at a legitimate gap Sete left at the last corner on the last lap for the win. No shoving, no elbowing but hard and fair racing while competing for a win.

Rossi and Biaggi had a tempestuous relationship which ended in near fisticuffs at the end of a race in Barcelona many years back, and the only true on track clash the two had was actually in Japan (2001 I believe) where Biaggi pushed Rossi off the circuit on the main straight. Other than that the two had some intense battles but nothing like the manner in which Marquez behaved yesterday.

I was talking about psychological aspect of this rivalry too. Rossi can't keep up with Marquez anymore and it annoys the heck out of him. As an old Senna fan I see nothing wrong with what Marquez did here. If Rossi's scared then he should focus on running his team and leave on-track racing to younger guys.

Oh yeah there's a psychological aspect to this, I won't speculate the reasoning behind it. Relations between Marquez and Rossi have been good for a long while now. They buried the hatchet following the Malaysia 2015 debacle, a situation that was initiated by Valentino and one that backfired on him.

Marquez' moves yesterday were careless. The dive on Rossi wasn't Senna like (I'm not suggesting you said it was) because Senna was ruthless but calculating. Incisive. Marquez was anything but.

Marquez himself said he doesn't go all-in anymore, hell on Saturday he said he pulled out of the Q2 lap to focus on the points table. This performance in the race was probably a one-off but he was so damn faster than anyone up to Rossi included. This is blown out of proportion.

The much Marquez was faster yesterday is the same much Lorenzo was slower at the same time.

Lorenzo is just out to lunch. He's like the Jenson Button of MotoGP - needs a mythically perfect balance to do anything worthwhile. That's a tough ask in today's era of sketchy Michelins where you have to adapt on the go each weekend.

I think he's closer to Nico Rosberg - makes it look so easy when its an easy time trial from the front in the dry, but so-so in the wet

Lorenzo is just cashing it in ATM. I won't be at all surprised to hear of him retiring after this season. Actually, I will be glad to hear such news.

Retirement? I don't think so. Don't be surprised if he receives (and takes) a big money offer to join KTM or Suzuki.

He's toned down a lot over the years. And Rossi has obviously forgotten how he used to elbow Gibernau out of the way back in the day. Old people have memory issues.

The last sentence is quite appropriate considering the Rossi and Gibernau incident you’re referring to didn’t happen in the manner which would support your point. Unless there is another incident that you mean, which would mean I have memory issues?

I'm not so much into MotoGP like into F1, but I was watching almost all the races back there.

The point is,I'm not referring to others right now-but just to Marquez and his seasons in MotoGP. He is the best rider on the gril without many doubts, but he is also the most dangerous, arrogant and agressive when things don't go his way.
Rossi was a lunatic back in his day,got enormous fan base those days, but I never really liked him because of his aggressive style, but now i'm not speaking about him.

Sam Lowes is down in the Moto2 race again. Polish TV crew has gone into Marx brothers mode for that one

Bagnaia wins but Mir really stormed through the field after the first corner mishap. Guess Bagnaia joining MotoGP next season doesn't seem premature at all now.

Has there been a single entertaining race at COTA since MotoGP started coming here?
