Why are these lap cars not taking the wave around....They just pitted?

Because not all of the cars on the lead lap pitted. Every single lead lap car has to pit for a car to get to the front to get the free pass.

ARCA throttle? Martin and Smith had no time to avoid that.

But if you're talking about the start of the wreck you're still mistaken. Keselowski was getting lose, Truex was checking up to miss him, and then Harvick had no time to react. They're all digging as hard as they can to get off the corner with a good run and try to make a move under the guy in front. Just restart craziness.
