I'll be at the track on Thursday. :flag:

First practice session starts Thursday morning at 9 AM EST and goes to 12 noon.
Second session that day is a drafting session and it starts at 1 and goes to 5.

Oldfield Grandstands open at 10 in the morning so we'll probably go up there when the drafting sessions start. Hopefully I can get some good video.

Front Row Motorsports won't be participating. They didn't go to the tire test either.

http://www.daytonainternationalspeedway ... -Test.aspx

36 Teams will attend the Test; for some reason I've decided to highlight the teams NOT locked in with blue font

00 -- David Reutiman ........ Michael Waltrip Racing
1 -- Jamie McMurray ........Earnhardt Ganassi Racing
2 -- Brad Keselowski ....... Penske Racing
4 -- Kasey Kahne ............ Red Bull Racing
5 -- Mark Martin .............. Hendrick Motorsports
6 -- David Ragan ............. Roush Fenway Racing
9 -- Marcos Ambrose ...... Richard Petty Motorsports
11 -- Denny Hamlin ......... Joe Gibbs Racing
13 -- Casey Mears .......... Germain Racing
14 -- Tony Stewart .......... Stewart-Haas Racing
16 -- Greg Biffle ...............Roush Fenway Racing
17 -- Matt Kenseth .......... Roush Fenway Racing
18 -- Kyle Busch ............. Joe Gibbs Racing
20 -- Joey Logano ........... Joe Gibbs Racing
21 -- Trevor Bayne .......... Wood Brothers Racing *Locked in by #19 RPM Owner Points
22 -- Kurt Busch .............. Penske Racing
24 -- Jeff Gordon ............. Hendrick Motorsports
27 -- Paul Menard ............ Richard Childress Racing *Locked in by #98 RPM Owner Points
29 -- Kevin Harvick ........... Richard Childress Racing
31 -- Jeff Burton ................ Richard Childress Racing
33 -- Clint Bowyer ............. Richard Childress Racing
36 -- Dave Blaney .............Tommy Baldwin Racing
39 -- Ryan Newman .........Stewart-Haas Racing
42 -- Juan Pablo Montoya ... Earnhardt Ganassi Racing
43 -- AJ Allmendinger ....... Richard Petty Motorsports
46 -- J.J. Yeley .................Whitney Motorsports
48 -- Jimmie Johnson ...... Hendrick Motorsports
56 -- Martin Truex Jr. .......... Michael Waltrip Racing
60 -- Todd Bodine ...............Germain Racing
64 -- Larry Gunselman .......Max Q Motorsports
66 -- Michael McDowell ......HP Racing
77 -- Steve Wallace ............ Rusty Wallace Racing *Locked in by Penske #77 Owner Points
78 -- Regan Smith ............. Furniture Row Racing
83 -- Brian Vickers ............. Red Bull Racing
88 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. .......Hendrick Motorsports
99 -- Carl Edwards ............. Roush Fenway Racing

Correction: 09 -- Bill Elliott ............ Phoenix Racing is also there testing but wasn't on the list. So 37 teams are on hand.

Notables from last season that aren't testing:
7 -- Robby Gordon ....... Robby Gordon Motorsports
10 -- Terry Labonte....... Stavola Labonte Racing
26 -- TBA .................... Latitude 43 Motorsports
34 -- Travis Kvapil .......... Front Row Motorsports
37 -- David Gilliland ......... Front Row Motorsports
38 -- Robert Richardson ... Front Row Motorsports
47 -- Bobby Labonte ....... JTG Daugherty Racing
51/55? -- Michael Waltrip .......... Michael Waltrip Racing
71 -- TBA ......................TRG Motorsports
87 -- Joe Nemechek ........ NEMCO Motorsports
90 -- Scott Riggs ............ Keyed Up Motorsports
92 -- Brian Keselowski ...... K-Automotive Racing

As lemonhead said, Front Row is skipping the test and Bobby Labonte confirmed on twitter that JTG Daugherty won't be there either. Not sure about the status of some of those other teams or if they even plan to attempt the 500. It seems Derrike Cope and Norm Benning always attempt the 500 with their own teams even if they don't show up anywhere else for the rest of the year. So you can probably look for them.

It looks like there will be 32-34 fully funded teams this year. I doubt we'll ever run into short fields but you never know. They always seem to somehow fill the field by the lower teams entering a second car, like Whitney with the #81, Robby's #07, TBR #35, NEMCO #97...yadda yadda. I see Germain is testing a second car, the #60 for Todd Bodine.

Odd, I used the direct link on the Speed website and had no video when it was streaming, however it works fine through NASCAR.com. Oh well, least I can watch!

yeah the cars do seem slower this year in single car runs. we'll really see in drafting session later today thats what i'm really waiting for. and i don't think the teams are using all of their "qualifying goodies" in the cars for this session. :D

oh and btw im loving the new front ends for the COT. they finally making it look like NASCAR!

don't they have smaller (or bigger can't remember) restrictor plates which would make them quiet a bit slower on their own?

yep and they also had the wing and bigger plates for last year's Daytona 500. this year they have the spoiler (which i hear slows them down a lil due to more drag) and smaller plates so 10mph less than they ran last year single car runs is about right. the draft will be a lil different today but they prob will only be around 194-195mph Max for an avg. lap speed in the final laps of the 500 when they'll be pushing each other all the way around the track. thats what i think.

also im kinda baffled they didnt paint any lines for the lanes around the track. 8O

They're not going to put the lines on the track. That sucks.
