Marty Reid is still pretty good in my book. He was excellent back when he did the short truck races so maybe that is his strong point.

I think the SPEED guys are worthy of a Cup event. Rick Allen has a voice and call style that can excite anybody.

...and there is always Allen Bestwick on the bench...

The network struggled as a whole though (outside the booth) with lack of replays, coverage during the wait period after the caution, among other things.

I completely agree, I much prefer Reid to Punch as I don't really think he's that bad, and Allen is always exciting even if he isn't really making sense. But the coverage of the finish was just embarrassing, they went to the camera in victory lane to watch nothing at least 5 times after Bowyer's interview instead of showing replays of the crash

The crew in the booth at ESPN is OK, everyone else minus Bestwick and Punch (he's good in his natural environment on pitroad) need to be shown the door.

Either revert back to the last completed green lap, or end the damn thing under green no matter what. They want short track style, then do it. Most short tracks either go back to the previously completed green lap or they have to end it under green. If lead changes are only official at the S/F line for 99% of the race, then why use video for a lead change that takes place in T1 on the last lap? That would technically not be a lead change.

Dunno if anyone realized it, but the race was actually decided by a last lap pass. Harvick was leading at the line, but Bowyer got the win. :p

Worst last lap pass ever.
j/k, it probably would've been a great finish but for the incompetence of espn, though i think we've pretty much beaten that horse to death.

During our coverage, they said that Montoya was struggling with water temp, but that he claimed he was going to push until the end. So probably it would've blown on the back straight, leaving Bowyer with no help, while Reutimann makes an amazing last lap pass on Harvick to win. :p

And 40 cars behind slide and crash on the oil, 5 of which blowover.

And ESPN still somehow manages to miss it all!

*keeps flogging that horse*

I've heard Bernie Ecclestone MIGHT be more interested in Money than racing, what do you think about that?
