Huh... NASCAR Short track asphalt racing hurting right in the middle of the home of Asphalt Modified racing... Why am I not surprised? At least the letter to the competitors didn't sugar coat it. No one is showing up, we're losing money, so we're pulling races and paying less simply because way fewer people are interested in NASCAR.

Can't blame them.

Stafford seems to be doing extremely well, and it's in the same region.

The purse cut sets a bad presence to the other local tracks, given they are pressuring the competitors to either show up and race for the same amount of money that *might* pay for a couple tires or the oval track shutters fully.

Personally: I think Thompson should be a specials only track anyway - given the size, banking & high speed nature of the track

Not sure weather to post it here or local racetracks discussion, but the racetrack where I work/commentate/film/spectate, Birmingham Wheels Raceway is under massive threat from the local council and a petition might be the only thing the council actually care about when it comes to make their final decision on whether to keep it or not (they've given all operators at the park, which is not only the oval but a go-kart Track, Drifting pan, off road experience, rollerskating track and a few others, until the end of Jan to clear out)

Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series opens up their season this weekend at Golden Isles Speedway. MavTV & LucasOilRacing.TV will have live coverage on both nights. Tonight isn't looking great in terms of weather, but they might be able to squeeze it in.

East Bay Raceway Park started up last night with Crate Late Models & Top Gun Sprint Cars. Coverage of their entire Speedweeks is on FloRacing (excluding the Lucas Oil Late Model races)
