They should actually just run the RC there as well (WITHOUT that mickey mouse corner combo leading onto the frontstretch). |

Here's a lap with Allmendinger. http://www.mrn.com/Media-Center/Video.a ... 4b7227cd0c I take back what I said earlier about a chicane on the backstretch....I forgot Charlotte is only a 1.5 mile track. When I think roval, I automatically think Daytona. This place is a lot smaller compared to there. I really like the infield part, especially since it has some elevation changes. |

Stage racing is another hole they'll probably never dig back out of. been watching nascar since the early 90's. huge fan of the aero changes, dont love the chase but dont hate it either, and i actually really enjoy the stages. drivers are actually pushing for stage wins and points stages are more legit than invisibris cautions, drs, and "meat" from taco bell |

The changes to the schedule indicate to me that nascar is aware of how stagnant and boring the schedule has become and are doing their best to spice it up despite being contractually held to the current set of tracks for the next 5 years or so. Hopefully when the renewal periods begin, they don't over commit again. Removing a 1.5 miler in favor of a road course (despite being at the same site) is a bold move by nascar standards. I think it's a good sign for the future. |

The things I'm really hoping for after this is continuing to shake up the playoff races and when the stupid track agreements are up, adding another natural RC to the Cup schedule. That and fuckin trucks at Lime Rock. |

Joe4345 wrote: The Roval layout is interesting to say the least. I just can't believe they're not gonna implement any sort of bus stop on the backstretch. They're gonna be flat out getting out of the infield, on to the banking, and all the way into oval turn 3. I wonder if they will have to do to make the roval a little safer the entrance to the infield is really close to the exit much like Daytona you would think you would need a temporary wall also i didnt see any tire walls and the esses look wide open which is fairly normal but i could see some braking disasters there |

Wonder what happens regarding spectator seating in this case. People who've already bought tickets keeping the full oval in mind might want to move closer to the infield now for eg. |

It's for 2018, not this year. No tickets have been sold a year and a half in advance. |

So in all this conversation right now all of y'all are saying that NASCAR is having a new track |

Damn it, I thought it was for this year. yeah was kinda of bummed that it wasn't on the cards this year at least it gives the Modified Tour another run at the Legends Oval (non points), don't think that's happening next year with Charlotte running on the same weekend as the Fall Final at Stafford now |

This year's HOF class is: -Robert Yates -Red Byron -Ray Evernham -Ken Squier -Ron Hornaday Jr. Hornaday won a tie-breaking vote over Alan Kulwicki. Really happy for Robert Yates, he was a mechanical genius. My only wish is that Davey Allison was going in with him. |

At first glance I thought all of the first names started with an R. |

Delighted that Ken Squier made it in. My one problem is, why couldn't they have let both Kulwicki and Hornaday in? |

And if they couldn't, in what universe does Hornaday beat Kulwicki? |

Obviously they wanted to put someone from the Truck Series in. |

I'm a Hornaday fan and I'm happy he's in, but I think coming from nothing and winning the Winston Cup in the greatest race ever held in your own equipment, your own way, trumps four Truck championships with top teams a few times over. |

Sorry, I liked Kulwicki, but Hornaday's numbers blow Alan's out of the water. 4 Truck championships and a ton of race wins plus a few Busch wins far outweighs 5 Cup wins and a championship. Yeah Alan's was one hell of a feel good effort but if Alan never won that championship, he would have been left with just 5 wins in a 7+ year career. Hornaday would get my vote over Kulwicki. Let's not get caught up on tearjerking moments. |

He got offers from powerhouse teams of his day like Junior Johnson but said no otherwise you know he would have had a ton more wins. |

This is the HoF, you don't go off of "ifs" or potential. I'm not saying Kulwicki isn't deserving of the HoF. He is and one day will be in there, but Alan's numbers up until that championship season were so very far from HoF numbers. I mean 1992 was the only season he had multiple wins and that was 2. There were also a few guys in front of him that shit the bed to allow him back into contention. The cards fell perfectly for him and that team did a remarkable job at taking advantage of it. But as this is a NASCAR HoF, not just a Cup HoF, I think Hornaday deserves to get in before Kulwicki. |
