Well, we saw the spy shots of the 2013 Challenger but there has to be atleast one powerhouse team willing to switch next year or I don't think Dodge will stick around just to support the start n parkers.

he's -23, but he might as well be -500.

Even if he wins 4 races straight, leads the most laps, and Kenseth finishes second in them, he'll still be 43 points behind Kenseth after it, not to mention all the guys who'll be between them.

NASCAR have basically screwed his entire season, guess that's what you get for trying to slip one past them.

@SB, wasn't that spy shot of the Dodge taken in the Penske workshop?

Wow at the point fine and suspension. Was there really THAT much of a aerodynamic advantage?

Surprised it took Penske this long to switch Manufacturers. Dodges seem so down on power now as it is.

Wonder if MWR would consider a jump to Dodge. Maybe Richard Petty again, I don't know how long there contract is with ford. Maybe Dodge will leave all together? Christ, it is the 2nd race weekend of the year and we are talking about 2013. That is terrible.

Robby Gordon as the loan Dodge team next year wouldn't be worth the development time. Plus you never know when Robby could just close up shop.

I think it's more the intent they punished than the result, but it's not like Chad doesn't have a history of trying to slip things past the tech team is it? ;)

Precisely. Besides, sometimes you have to know where the line is so you know not to cross it next time. Last time he got fined big was at Sonoma in 2007, and 100 then is pretty similar to 25 points now... he not only made the Chase, but went into it leading the damn thing. Whether you get fined now or Sonoma, 25 points is 25 points, and being in the negative doesn't mean a thing.

At Richmond, it's still just -25. That's it.

Didn't see this coming. I wonder who is going to be with Dodge next year because they are losing the only team that was capable of winning races.

I also keep thinking MWR might switch because they've not had consistent success with Toyota. It would be awesome to have RPM switch and us getting to see the #43 representing mopar again.

As already said, points fines of this scale have been seen before, and the 48 has caertainly proved they can overcome them. I'd almost be concerned about how dangerous they might be now they have a point to prove.

Penske has been developing the new Charger, and switching to Ford surely will make Dodge nervous about their role there. But FWIW, Gibbs headed up development of the 2003 Pontiac GP before switching to Chevy for 2003.

Remember, the 48 only has to make top 10 rack off wins for the WC. Easy to do.

If Robby had full factory support it wouldn't be an issue. Though I doubt Dodge is interested in making RGM it's major team.

If Dodge is still interested in having a presence in NASCAR, someone will come along and sign with them. That's a lot of factory support to focus on a small amount of cars, which will be a big lure.

If Dodge honestly didn't see Penske's departure coming (and judging by the lack of any future plans announced they didn't) that's pretty ridiculous on their part. You have to ask what the point of their investment in the sport is if they can't even keep one full-time team on board, let alone the one currently developing their next-gen car.

RPM was financially bailed out by Ford, not sure if they have a fiscal involvement with them still or not.

Where does Dodge go in 2013? A new manufacturer in Cup? Dodge will unveil its 2013 Sprint Cup car on March 11 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. However, the bigger question now is who will be driving Dodges next year? Robby Gordon Motorsports would be the lone team at this point after Penske Racing announced Thursday that it was moving to manufacturer Ford in 2013. But Dodge has also reached out to other teams, including Richard Petty Motorsports, according to owner Andy Murstein. "We received calls from several manufacturers today asking if they could meet with us," Murstein said. "It seems that while sponsorship is down, car manufacturer support is strong. That is probably due to the fact that the car companies are all doing significantly better these days than a few years ago. Thus Petty has been approached by several manufacturers recently. What's interesting is that while there are the usual suspects there is one new manufacturer that is trying to break into the sport. RPM's contract with Ford is up at the end of the season. Petty ran Dodges from 1972 to 1978. Petty Enterprises aligned with Dodge again when the manufacturer returned to NASCAR competition in 2001 through most of the 2009 season, then under the RPM banner. Earnhardt Ganassi Racing president Steve Lauletta said the company had not yet been approached by Dodge.(Fox Sports)
AND: Richard Petty Motorsports said: "We welcome Penske Racing to the Ford Racing Family in 2013. Additional teams mean more information for everyone and that's a very good thing from a competition standpoint. We have a partnership with Roush Fenway Racing and we are happy to be a part of the Ford Racing program. As we always do, we will evaluate all of our options and make decisions based on what is ultimately best for our race team."(RPM)(3-2-2012)

That will be your Dodge Team in 2013.

Interesting to note from that article, it says another manufacturer is looking to come into NASCAR. Also, I'd love to see RPM go to Dodge. Also, Ganassi was with Dodge for a while, when's their contract with GM up?
