Two new teams are joining the Truck Series full time in 2020.

I didn't see this one coming. I thought Todd Gilliland was going to DGR-Crosley for sure.

https://www.jayski.com/2020/01/13/front-row-motorsports-expands-to-truck-series-todd-gilliland-to-drive/

Bill McAnally Racing is also going full-time.

https://www.jayski.com/2020/01/13/kraus-to-race-in-truck-series-for-mcanally-hilgemann-racing/

The truck series lineup is looking very strong going into 2020.

I'm legit amazed that NASCAR keeps finding ways to be fucking laughable. These changes are good, nominally, but the fact that they don't apply to the tracks where they would be most needed is peak 21st century NASCAR dipshittery.

still doesn't fix the problems they created in 2015 - considering the racing got much worse after they added tapered spacers to drop horsepower to 750HP in the name of "cost cutting" (even tho all of the manufacturers spend twice as much to get any sort of horsepower back)

of course, there will always be dipshittery with modern day NASCAR, given all of the other BS shit they have now (comp yellows, stupid playoff system, uber high downforce everywhere)

the tapered spacer is a disaster

if they want to reduce horsepower, just reduce the engine capacity a bit

I believe the Front Row deal is just a "sponsor / partner effort" that will be run out of DGR's shop

Erik Jones tested the 2021 car at Homestead yesterday and today.

https://www.jayski.com/2020/01/16/nasca ... homestead/

One thing that I was happy to read is him saying essentially the same thing that Logano said after the Phoenix test: the car doesn't just straighten itself out when it's loose. They seem to have really reduced a lot of the aerodynamic sideforce.

That is good news. If they've reduced the sideforce, maybe it'll be easier for drivers to run side-by-side and not become king when they're in clean air, tire wear be damned.

I'm wondering how they will be able to do that if cup is running the oval the same weekend I'm guessing there Isn't as much change to the oval as the is with the Charlotte roval

The track will be converted after the xFinity race, there will be Cup practice on Saturday evening(?), qualifying on Sunday morning and then the race. They're not going to go back and forth between the two layouts.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I hope they don't use that stupid chicane instead of Oval T1.

they're planning to put floodlights at the track so perhaps they could stage sessions until the night

Floodlights....at indy?

That's bigger news than just the road course being used for Xfinity isn't it?

Lights haven't been confirmed by RP or staff, but it's heavily rumored - primarily for races outside of the 500

(It wouldn't be the first night race at IMS tho - BC39 already did that 2 years ago)

SRO's trying to get the 8 Hours of Indianapolis to conclude at night, so that's why the floodlight rumor gained traction.

Roger Penske's wondering if that race and the Brickyard 400 actually has a future at IMS.

So fun, my brother started a company out of nothing in Charlotte... This weekend, they have a car running in the preliminary race before the 24 hours.
